    Default Mini lantern mod

I found that the usb power (5.5v?) for the usb mod cooked my juice to the point of being unsmokable. Nasty burnt taste.
So I picked up a battery powered mini lantern from walmart for $5
and modded it using the same usb cable and switch. I'm only
using 3 of the 4 batteries to lower the voltage to 4.8v.
(you can use 1-4 batteries if you like)
I just ran a jumper wire to eliminate the 4th battery slot.
Working great so far and not over cooking my juice anymore
Now I just have to pick up a six pack of rechargable batteries.

My usb mod pics are in this post.
Video - details on the 901 USB conversion

Drilled holes to route the cable inside the housing.
You can see the jumper wire eliminating the 4th battery slot.

    Checking the voltage

The black and red wires to the left are routed thru the casing and soldered to the tabs.

    Lantern reassembled

Yes the light still works but goes dim when vaping

    Thats funny
I am creative, but dont think i would have thought of that.
Dont know why people dont just get a resistor and run it inline on their USB line. It would cut the power.
At least this way is sort of portable.
A couple people have gotten different rechargable battery packs with usb connectors. They are for recharging ipods, NES' and other portable stuff.

    Anything that works

If you think direct USB is too hot, measure it then decide what voltage you want your ecig to run at. All you need is a few resistors to build a simple DC voltage divider.

    That's awesome.

A little fancy paint work and you could market it as an e-hookah.

It would be even more awesome if you could rig it so the LEDs light up only when you vape.
