Thanks for the tips. I am the neurotic newbie at the moment. Can't say I am seeing a savings money wise. Feel a need to be certain that I will have something to draw from. Just read about dry vaping....and wow! Took the cartridge out, put the tip on alone, and OMG the vapor. Amazing - and hopefully this will keep it clean. Still trying to see if it is that I can resurrect the one that died after 2 weeks of usage. I have no desire for the old routine and am still finding lighters in various places around the home, garage, workshop, pockets etc... that I do not want to use to light up a smoke stick again.

Smudge stick is something entirely different. I will light that - to smoke the house but that is not the same thing as my favorite Camel.

I cannot imagine going back now. I enjoy the vaping experience. No more minor catastrophies from a lit cigarette (major ones either - and thankfully have not experienced same).

I truly appreciate all the input here. I am learning more every day and calming the newbie neurosis of being without.

A few things I've found with my 510. I have 3 atomizers and they each have a different draw to them. One is light, one medium, one hard.

    - If you tilt the 510 LED up the atty will dry out a bit. If you tilt the LED down the atty gets wetter. Too much of either is no good.

    - If the draw is hard or you hear bubbling / gurgling sounds the atty is likely too wet. Don't add juice. Instead heat up the atty a little and puff some of the extra off. You can also tilt the PV LED up to have some juice run back into the cart as it cools.

    - Carts seem to dry out a little on their own.

    - The more juice you vaporize at once the thicker the vapor will be. Each atty and cart has it's own sweet spot. The vapor will get thinner as you provide less juice.

    - How much juice you use also depends on how often you top off or drip. If you ride a cart longer you're using less juice per puff. You are also less likely to leak juice. The opposite is true as well.

I have reloaded mine with fluval, and it's much looser than the factory origianls... (My theory is that it is just in there to keep the eJuice from falling out anyway!)

If you want to try to loosen up the wadding, take it out and cut one third to one half off lengthwise, and stick it back in (I use tweezers)...
    holler!
    this worked really well
i figured more stuffing=more juice. but uh. at what cost? especially when you can't even get to it! taking some of that out, i can pretty much drain an entire cart now...sweet

Sweet! one of my tricks actually helped someone!

If you stop and think about what's actually happening in the PV, alot of what people say doesn't make any sense.. You gotta think for yourself sometimes!

Stuffing takes up space - less space, less fluid. Less wadding - more fluid. After knocking over many carts, I realized that the wadding holds it in place, gives the juice something to 'stick to'..... That, and to wick to the atomizer... well, not necessarily wick, but to keep the atty from flooding....

I also use the straw mod, I'm too lazy to see if it's been posted in this thread already - but when you fill your cart, and the juice touches the sides, surface tension will seal off the airflow, and the juice doesn't get to the bottom. Stick a straw with an angled bottom in there and you get some air circulation....

i know about this straw mod you speak of. havent tried it yet. i want to see about this PTB thing. wonder if both of them together = ++ or if it's one or the other. from what i've seen on the PTB it looks like you don't need the straw. it kind of forms its own. ive yet to try it, but im willing to try both ways, when i can freaking afford a simple box of tea/when i find time to be around a coffee shop where i can gank some straws...lol i hate college.....

but everything you're saying really does make a lot of sense
    thanks for posting

    "Ganking Straws" would be cheaper!
(Although when I was in college, we "liberated items...") :-)

i was a 2 pack a day smoker and went through just over half of a 30ml bottle in the first 5 days...with a good bit of leakage from my 901 carts. after cycling through the straw and PTB cart mods and still getting occasional leaks & clogged attys within a day or two after cleaning them, the best method--for me--seems to be direct dripping. 2 drops (3 if the batt's fresh) on the 901 i carry with me yields a good cigarette's worth of vaping (and allows my neurotic ass not to worry that the juice in the cart is going to flow into the atty if i don't carry or set it down just right ;p ) and has definitely slowed the speed at which i was burning through my juices.

also: maybe it's just me, but with the polyfill that my carts came with and all the mods i tried--i never really got the experience of *only* tasting the juice until i started dripping. all the cart fillers i tried seemed to alter the taste in some way.

anyhow, the best advice i think is too just keep experimenting until you find what works best for *you*.. especially if you're using eCigs to break a smoking habit. finding how to get the most satisfaction out of the vaping experience is your best bet for knocking back the temptation of those nasty nasty analogs ;p

don't get me wrong, i'm a fan of dripping/dipping, but vaping constantly (when i'm stressing, which is.....all the time) and being on the move, i need it to last longer than either of those methods do, or when i have to stand somewhere outside, those ways are really inconvenient. Sitting down, like at my computer, it's great... but i hate having to mess with it all the time. i haven't noticed a significant difference in the taste, but then again, this could be due to the type of liquids that I currently have on hand.

.....i've yet to "clog" an atty...how you doin that? or do you just mean overfilled?

Hey needvapor, I 'm confused. . . how do you drip into a cartomizer? I thought those were the ones that are sealed and you have to refill with a syringe?
