Will this work to clean my attys?
All the local liquor store had was "Clear Springs" grain alcohol 190 proof. Will this work to clean my attys with instead of vodka? I don't know much about the really hard stuff, but I'm assuming so, but I wanted to check first before I used it. Thanks!

I have been using Devil's Springs 160 proof without issues. You can't buy Everclear in NY. Just remember to mix it with something if you're having a sip while you're cleaning

LOL, I'll remember that! Thanks

I hope you don't mind a noob question while we're on the subject. How long do you clean your atty's. Do you soak them in vodka, or just dunk them in, swish it around and throw the vodka away?
If you soak them, how long do you soak them for?

I usually soak mine overnight. I only do this if they clog. If they work OK, I leave them alone. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I experimented and came up with this...
Soaking overnight absolutely strips the atty of residue, but this method has flaws. There is an electrical insulator that houses the center conductor (positive) of the atty from the outer shell (minus). Shortly after soaking an atty overnight in Everclear I lost the atty due to a dead short. I can't be certain but I believe that soak damaged the insulator. Plus, attys soaked overnight seemed to have a strange taste to them. YMMV, as they say.
I dont clean attys all that often anymore but when I do (usually to remove a liquid taste that I didnt like) I drip two drops of Everclear directly on the atty and let it sit for a minute or two -- then just vape it away. You can read about "dry burns" within the forum. I call this a wet burn. It has the added advantage of a quick buzz. LOL Sometimes, you'll taste e-liquids that you long ago forgot you tried. =)
After just a few hits of the wet burn I remove the atty and wash it with dish washing soap. Then rinse with LOTS of water. Blow it out, allow it to dry and it's good to go. Seems to work for me...

You may want to check out this tread. Looks very promising...

I just soaked my badly working attys for 1/2 hour and the stuff was so strong it bubbled the paint!
Oh well..... at least they're clean, I could see the e juice in the bottom of the shot glass.

I have been using PGA to clean my attys for a few months.
If no paint on the atty, I let them soak a while.
If the atty has paint, I drip PGA thru atty and blow out; repeat.
So far, no problems using PGA to clean attys.

I soak in the alcohol for a couple hours, then water, then rinse and dry.
