200 Proof Ethanol for atty?
Hello, I'm just wondering if 100% pure ethanol (200 proof - absolute, anhydrous) would be a good solvent to clean out my atty's. I hear that people use grain alcohol approaching 190 proof, but I'm wondering if the full potency of the chemical might have adverse affects.
I found a pint bottle of it last night, was thinking of drinking it (free alcohol :P mixed, I'm not that insane) until I saw at the bottom it was denatured. I find it hard to believe that something can be pure, 200 proof and denatured at the same time though...
Basically, this is safe to use as a cleaner, right?

Id be very careful using it.
I certainly wouldnt soak attys using it. Seems it would be ok to wash out a former flavor with it and then rinse.
Be sure you have extra attys so youre not left atty less//

You could use it to clean the attys but it will have to be flushed out real well before using the atty. I used rubbing alcohol at first and it worked just fine. If you use a drinkable form of alcohol you wont have to go through any flushing and drying cycle, you can just blow it out real good and reprime and start using it.

DO NOT drink denatured ethanol, and if you use it as a soak make sure to rinse well.

What is the best place to get 190 proof on these nets?
I have searched, to no avail. I went to the liquor store and they only had 75%/150proof.
I do mix it in a drink when the hops and barley run dry here and there, but only 1/2 shot to like 8oz juice. This is "MOSTLY" for cleaning attyZ.
Ubuntu is an African word meaning, "Slackware is too hard for me."

150 proof Everclear is fine for cleaning atty's. That's all I can get here in CA and it works great. It dries/evaporates quickly, and doesn't leave any residue, so i don't have to rinse anything after soaking or cleaning.

I can't imagine how you could find something like that out. Oh wait, I can.

Denatured alcohol will cause blindness, then death if you drink it. (It has methanol in it) I'd stear clear of using it, but flush real well with water if you do.
I was wondering if acetone would work well, it sure removes fingernail polish good. I may have to try it with an atty that I was going to toss, due to burnt taste and low vapor.
