Been vaping on Janty Dura & 901 for the past 8 months. I tried everything. All the coffee filter, tea bag, polyfill tut's = FAIL. I'm only able to get maybe 3-4 puffs before i begin getting a funny taste. I'm a full-time dripper. 4 drops & i'm good to go for at least 10-15 good puffs. That's no exaggeration either.
The big trick with the blue foam is getting the right amount of "squish" so it's not so loose the juice all runs out and not so tight it's just a plug. It's kind of trial and error (trim the foam pieces if they're too tight, toss them out if they're too loose), but worth it.
With the D-shaped 901 cart, I get the best results by just cutting an oversized "D" and putting it in flat. With the 510 and 801 carts, you can take a strip of foam and fold it in half, then stuff the round part in and trim off the two sticky-up parts to fit nicely.
(With the 901 and 801 carts, I use a straw that's cut and "hollowed out" to provide a platform for the plug. With the 510 cart, the indents a few millimeters down make a pretty good stopper for the foam.
I never tried the Blue Foam. On my venture to find it, I happened across the face buff pad and got it. Was happy with it but right now I'm trying out the TB wick method and so far I'm happy with it. It won't get my finally seal of approval until next Wednesday. That's when I've used it for a week and I'm still happy with it.
I've tried everything with mixed results. It seems every month, a new filler becomes the Cart Mod King of the Forum. Up until recently, I stuck with the PTB mod (which can waste juice and flood the atty) and was reluctant to shell out any more money for some obscure material. Finally last week, I decide to try out the Blue foam plug. I'm glad I did. It holds more juice, gives a great vape, but more importantly, it doesn't waste any juice. But like Brachinus said, you have to do a little experimenting to figure out how much foam to use. Once you have that worked out, you're good to go.
You'll be hard pressed to find a better option. On a side note, I did read that this doesn't seem to work very well for the 801 users out there (their atty's tend to flood).
It works if you fold the foam. Cut a strip slightly wider than the cart's diameter and more than twice the depth. Fold it in half, compress it with tweezers and insert it folded end first. Trim it flush with the cart mouth with a razor blade and you're good to go. It helps with filling if you use a single drop of alcohol to "prime" the foam's surface. Otherwise it tends to bead up and pool on the surface.
Currently I'm using Aquaclear foam for 801s. This has larger cells and is more resilient than the blue type. It's harder to cut but a bit more convenient to stuff. Seems to hold slightly more and wick longer between fills. My first cart gave me 4 hrs before needing a top-off and then took 18 drops. My second cart isn't doing as well... maybe I'll do some experimentation this weekend to try for a slightly looser fill.

For my 801, I do a "slug" mod with a piece of foam folded over and stuffed in so the ends stick out (and then trim). The 801 likes being wet anyway, so a bit of flooding isn't a huge deal (especially in my Chuck, which has a reservoir around the atty connection that catches a few drops of juice).
