feeding five volts straight from the USB socket to the e cig atomizer will wreck the PC..
Here Trog100 is not right I think. The USB 2.0 specification clearly states, that USB ports complying with it shall have overcurrent protection and shall withstand short-circuit for unlimited time. It is allowed for the port to shutdown its output power under overload conditions, or even to require a reset to resume normal operation - these are up to design - , but no damage to the port is allowed by the specification.

Consequence - in my opinion - is that if anyone's USB port is fried by an e-cig, or a short-circuit, then that port did not fully comply with the USB 2.0 specification, and so the manufacturer is liable for the damage..

This might not apply to USB ports complying with the old USB 1 specification, what I do not know at all. Anyway, the USB 1.0 port in my old desktop was not fried by the USB mod either, it only seemed to provide much lower current (current limiter inside).

I just started using my 901 today and the results are great thus far, but the battery life is awful, and it's brand new so this will only get worse. Are there larger capacity batteries available for a basic 901?

I have a USB passthrough coming for and with a Classic penstyle I ordered from Steve. I was planning on using it with my computer but am now a little worried. I don't have a laptop. Just your basic tower computer. Yes I'm electronically challenged. But will the USB passthrough damage my computer?

Thank you Cell. It's sad when you're handicapped.

Default USB Passthrough Cocerns

Hi,

I've been using one of my computer's USB 2.0 ports (one on the front because passthrough cable is kinda short) almost constantly for about 2 weeks with no problems at all. My comp is 3 or 4 years old so I wouldn't think you have anything to worry about except losing analog's!
