has anyone tried to glue a rubber stopper to a syringe? It ALMOST FITS one that I have but not quite. What kind of glue did you use? Any other ideas?
redrhino...I can get a cartomizer to last as long as an atomizer...so, that's $1.50 instead of $7. I remove the white cap and the rubber ring and just fill it by rolling liquid down onto the cartridge material. I replace the white cap (which now comes on and off with my fingernails) and vape away. I fill them 10-20 times a day (just keep them topped off with 4-6 drops each time) and chain vape like an SOB... And I thought washing cartos was a joke...until I bought some nasty ones that had bad juice in them. I just take a syringe with no needle (after removing rubber ring and cap) and jet vodka down through the battery hole about 10 times until it comes out clear. Then I rinse under warm water and let dry...then fill generously. Every time I top off my cartos, I get flavor and vapor like a brand new atty (after the primer is finally gone). I can make people disappear in the amount of vapor these cheap little things make! After trying them and getting the hang of them (on the third one, i finally got the hang of it) I will never go back. In fact, I have converted all of my vaping friends (which I also converted to vaping) to using cartos. So, yes, I see why somebody would clean a carto. However, once I burn the paper or build up the nasties on the coil...I throw them away. There are some things that even I am not thrifty enough to work through!
LONG LIVE THE CARTOMIZERS! LOL!
I tried this method today, as I have never cleaned a cartomizer before. Since I use the CCFM method, I thought I should learn how to clean em as well. I have a bunch of pre-filled cartos that are vaped out, these were tobacco flavored ones, that flavor I no longer like, and wanted to refill them with some "banana" PG juice. So I had to clean them to get rid of the old juice taste. I bought a cheap plastic medicine syringe at the local drug store. While it fits into the inner rubber gasket of the carto, it is a bit hard to push the gasket back into the carto as the syringe plastic point expands the gasket a touch, good news is after fighting to get it back into the carto, the seal is very good and tight. I decided NOT to be gentle as a test. I have very HOT tap water here, and ran that thru the carto 2-3 times, pushing pretty hard on the syringe, for more pressure. Did one pass with cheap vodka, then another 2 cycles of hot water.
Then used the syringe with no water to dry a bit. Inner filler seemed very clean, "white" to my eyes. I tried putting the rubber condom on the open end of the carto, and then did some spinning to see if water collected in the condom, but there was only a single drop, which I thought was odd. For more experimenting, I did NOT do any other drying technique, which most likely is a MISTAKE. I dripped maybe 10-12 drops of ejuice down the open end of the carto, and was surprised that the inner filling seemed soaked. (What I believe now is that the inner filling was still wet or damp and therefore could not absorb more juice at first)
After some vaping with banana juice now, at first I could still detect some tobacco flavor, but not too bad. I did not vape much on this newly cleaned carto. I was going out, so before I left I thought I would top off the carto using the CCFM method. To my surprise, I got about 20 drops or more of juice in the carto, it kept sucking it up, meaning that when I had originally first filled it with the cap off, dripping the juice down the sides of the carto, it was not near being filled, even though the filler appeared to be soaked. Maybe some of the left over water was heated away with some of my earlier vaping. Not really sure why it soaked up so much more juice when I used the CCFM method. I think next time I will do some kind of drying, even if it is simply letting the carto sit open for a day or two. Overall, I think this method of cleaning is good and the flushing effect seems ideal. Another nice tip by "Dogbody"!

I ordered a turkey baster syringe and it didn't really fit that any better than on my 5ml syrenge....:close on both but not quite tight. Glued both with "Instant Krazy Glue Advanced Formula Gel" (claims its slightly flexible). Trying both today. I'm just gonna avoid the hot water and stick with vodka and warm water. I don't like to screw up my own cartos. I don't like being mad at myself...haha. I'm gonna stick to the safe method.
Believe this one: I'm gonna use Absolute Vodka on this process. OOOHHH NOOOO!!!! I've been avoiding it hoping to get around to driving to a "state owned and operated liquor store," none of which are close to my work or my home (PA LAWS ARE NUTS W/ALCOHOL).... for some cheap vodka. Oh well...The day has come for my experiment and I never had the time to hit the liquor store...therefore the Absolute must go to a better cause.![]()
...I'm not much of a drinker but I have a liquor cabinet selection of liquors that I love to "always have around". WEIRD since I hardly drink...now I'm gonna need to buy more absolute and cheap stuff. ha ha
Both seemed to have glued on securely. The one on the regular 5ml syringe was more difficult to get to stay in place with the glue due to longer tip of syringe (with no needle).
The Turkey syringe I ended up getting in the mail after reading this thread....has a TINY tip which hits a wide part of the whole syringe (very short tip) so it makes it more stable but harder to put lots of glue on.
I'll post soon...with my first results.
Happy Saturday!!!
So...I did use some Absolute ... but it didn't take much so it wasn't so tragic. I got cheap vodka today so I don't have to do that again!!
Super Glue WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The kind in the post above was the kind I used and it was "a hit" worked perfectly!!!!!!!!!!! The one that was superglued up close to the base of the syringe worked best for stability reasons...If I had it to do again, I would have used the original one and after gluing it CLOSE TO BASE OF SYRENGE I would have sawed off most of the extra tip of syringe plastic tip, that went past the clear rubber gasket. Used warm water and vodka and my cartos have NEVER BEEN CLEANER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The turkey basting syringe I purchased was $5 TOTAL and it arrived quickly and WORKS LIKE IT WAS MADE FOR THIS PROCESS. Use some super glue just to make it tight. It is very sturdy and can't imagine having any problems with it. Purchased at: Marinade Injector Syringe Chicken Roast Turkey 5 Min
THANKS SOOO MUCH DOGSBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BEST CLEANING METHOD EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Mactavish and Stoked! for your detailed responses, and everyone else who replied.
Ninaxiong: Washing the cartos will not harm them at all (e-juice has water in it), unless you forget to unscrew the battery first!
