Default my new case mod, 901 style

ok, so, i finally found a great material to use for cases, exactly the density of foam i was looking for.

a couple mods here are using crafting foam, which is great...only that i can find it in 2mm thick sheets, so i'd have to cut out like, 4 or 5 of them perfectly and stack/glue them.

    no way.

i'd also picked up spongy foam from Hobby Lobby, got a great deal, 15 bucks for like 2.5 yards of it, would last forever, but...foam SUCKS to cut because it isn't dense enough to cut against, so it was just a mess and not precise at all.

well, here comes the new ringer.

i went to Sears, and found some "no slip" flooring, it's made out of the same type of foam as crafting foam, there's a name for it and i've forgotten, it's like "209 spec" or something, i can try to dig that up if anyone really cares.

i got mine on sale for 9.99 but it is regular 20 bucks, but you do get A LOT of it. i'm thinking it's used for other things, like baby toy blocks and puzzle pieces, some of you with kids may catch on to what i'm talking about if you've seen it. anyway, here's a pic, it's 6 pieces of foam that interlock to form a big square to use as a non-skid workspace:

yes, front side has "tread" on it, back side is flat. it's a dull gray color, and 1/2" thick material, and cuts easily with a razor.

so, i just spent about 2 hours fiddling with it, i just laid out my parts and outlined them, then went back and trimmed it out with an Exacto Razor. i have a stash of Camel tins from ebay now, i made one into a 401 case with regular foam, now i have to make a new one for that

as for the 901 case, i made cutouts for the following:

    3 x batteries
    1 x 3ml dropper bottle
    5 x cart/atomizer

the atomizers and carts are roughly the same size, so this will hold whatever quantity of 5 you'd like, 2 atomizers and 3 carts most likely for best use. plus the fluid if your carts run dry.

so here we go, first model:

    voila!

this should hopefully be enough to last anyone a night on the town.

if you want more details, i could try to measure out the cuts i made, but honestly i did it mostly by eye and outline, i didn't really measure except for size of the case.

and yes, it is one whole piece of foam still, i didn't have to cut out any edges or break the square.

here is the older 401 case i made, which now...it works, but with this new foam, i'm going to re-do it soon

    camel special edition tin box/pack

since the 401 batts are so long, not sure if i want to add a bottle in there or not, bigger hassle filling the 401 if i'm at a bar anyway. i'd rather just have a handful of carts to last the night.

rumor is the 901 is a bit trickier and doesn't use the full cart as well as 401, so having juice seems to be a safer way to go.

haha, yes, metal to stand up to rugged tests! those little Camel tins are proving to be quite useful. they're small enough for a shirt pocket, won't smash, and while not waterproof, it would handle someone spilling a drink on it

of course now i have a ridiculous amount of foam just sitting around, maybe i should start selling cases on ebay to pay for my new vaping addiction!

Nice info. If you do not have the proper equipment, cutting most any foam-type product is impossible. You did a pretty good job on your case. It serves a purpose and is very useful. Cheers!

I LOVE THIS!!! I am going to make one just like yours this week. I have to find a similar tin, though. Funny-- I have all the foam as flooring in my gym, but who needs the left corner of the floor, anyways? Seriously-- I love this!

    thanks!

as for the tins...check ebay. i luckily had ONE of them lying around from "back in the day" and it sparked the idea. i found several in lots on ebay, like lots of 3 items for pretty cheap. i got 3 of them for like, 7 bucks, and 5 of them for like 10 bucks. just watch the prices and the shipping, some people think they're worth more than they are ;p

i don't know, but there may be cig companies selling product in similar tins, i dunno, may check your local tobacco or smoke shops just in case.

I don't have much patience. I am going to find a tin today. My daughter has a playing cards tin that is a little longer, but I don't need it as small as you do since I can use a purse. But, she won't give it to me! I have been texting her for about a half hour now at school.

Oh well, off to Michaels and maybe walmart's tobacco section.

I found a CASE LOGIC purse ( if you will allow me to carry a purse)
it holds everything one would need to go out for a while

me, I would need 10 different cigs, loaded, 3 bottles of juice and 3 mobile devices, just to go out to a movie

I see rehab in my future AGAIN

Silly-- case logic cases don't qualify as purses (although you're more than welcome to carry one)! I have something similar, too, but I want the metal case with foam. I just want a case to go out for a few hours that looks more like a cigarette case than a drug paraphernalia bag. Right now, it looks like I'm carrying a pouch full of ...... or something and all the stuff that would go with that. I need a better solution.

I'm going to post a pic of my case when I'm done with it.
