    Thumbs up

I LLLLLLLLOVE the Lipton Brand "Pyramid" Tea Bag Cart modification!

Unlike "conventional" Tea Bag (papers) it's much more durable (no fraying, tangling, singe-ing or anything for me) and wicks the atomizer beautifully.. now I'm vaping ALL day on a single e-cig whereas before I was going through four or five on the standard fluval that comes in them. (I was really getting a little 'tired' with all of the 'topping off' & dripping too.)

The PTB mod is 'my' personal favorite so far.....

It does concern me however that it's made from the same (PET - polyethylene terephthalate) 'plastic' material water bottles & such is made of as I hear all of the time that the 'substances - estrogens' that (allegedly!) leaches from these plastics is not good for us....
One must always 'consider their sources' when dealing with such matters.... obviously the Company that manufactures the plastics for water bottles & what have you is going to 'claim' the safety of their Product.....

I stopped smoking so that I could regain my Health.... and started vaping in the hopes of having the 'best of both Worlds' without compromising my Health... Am I asking too much to desire this?

I really wish the Manufacturers of our e-cigs would jump in and help us out some here & improve the 'fillers' in our cart mods (They just don't 'burn' long enough!).... I realize they have to make a 'buck' too... but right now (during these hard economic times) we 'addicts' need to watch every buck we spend.

Here's an Article I found on the Web -

PET plastic bottles may pose serious health hazards

    Thu-Apr 30, 2009
    Melbourne / NewsX Bureau
A recent study in Australia has revealed, drinking from bottles made of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic may pose a health risk.

According to lead researcher Martin Wagner, Goethe University, Frankfurt, questions can be raised over the goodness and safety of the PET plastic water bottles.

Estrogenic compounds trickle into the water in bottles made from PET, found researchers. Moreover there are certain other yet-to-be-identified chemicals in these plastics that seem to have the ability to react with estrogen and other reproductive hormones.

"What we found was really surprising to us. If you drink water from plastic bottles, you have a high probability of drinking estrogenic compounds," ABC Science quoted Wagner as saying.

Meanwhile, it was still too early to conclude if PET plastics were a cause of concern in relations to human health, warned Wagner and his team.

Shanna Swan, an epidemiologist at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in New York, said maybe a revised review of so-called "safe" plastics was required.

Swan added: "This is coming at a good time because the use of bottles for consuming water is getting very bad press now because of its carbon footprint.

She continued: "This raises questions about all plastic bottles”.

    * anyone else have any other information on this?

I'm going to continue to use it until I have something a little more 'solid' to go on.....

I wish the e-cig companies would offer the material they use in the initial cartridges in a rather large bag to be sold through the distributor vendors just as they do with the e-cig kits and e-liquids but I have a feeling that will never happen.

The poly filler works well; however, as many have noted and/or commented, it is a bit of work to pull the stuff apart, pull from that an approximation of what one needs to roll into a size thta will 1) fit in the cartridge and 2) do so in a manner where it's not too tight or too loose, and 3) have the ability to insert the material in such a way that it wicks well but doesn't run out either through the mouth piece side or over-drain from the other (open side) of the cartridge.

The teabag option just doesn't work for me. I can't seem to get it to go in as I want it to, have it wick properly, or force it to stay in the cartridge when I must remove it to refill. It's most likely a blind thing. I have a decent feel for the poly maternal going into the cartridge, staying there, and I can place part of the tip of my finger on the edge of the cartridge to get an almost exact feel as to how much or how little liquid is in the cart w/o overfilling it and making a mess or too little for the e-cig to vape.

I found this interesting Article on the Internet about PET... what does everyone make of this?

Polyethylene terephthalate is a polyester material that is most often used to make fibers, parts made by injection molding, and containers for food and beverages, pharmaceuticals and make-up. Polyethylene terephthalate is frequently shortened to PET or PETE and was formerly called PETP or PET-P. PET may also be recycled to make carpeting or fiber filling.

    What is Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET)?

Isn't the fluval that comes in our e-cig cartridges made of polyester?..

I'm thinking now there's no difference....

    ... or is there?

Blonde, whatever it is, I do not want to know. That is why I went to dripping over 8 months ago--knocked any issues with that right out of the equation---better throat hit too!!

I'm sorry if this was already discussed, but I can't read all 30 pages, I found this post through a search. Can anyone tell me what are the drawbacks (if any) - particularly health-wise, someone on youtube mentioned bacteria - to using ordinary tea bags instead of lipton's? I can't get "pyramid" where I live.

I've been using the straw+tea bag method, it's the best one so far - it's flavorless (fluval stinks) and when you cut it to the right size it wicks really well.

I agree - suppliers, please sell replacement cart core fillers; ones that work well and don't fall out of the carts!

The stuff in the bags just lets the liquid sit on top instead of absorbing, and the fibers are constantly coming out and stick in the atty/bridge.

I tried Fluval, its slightly better at wicking and doesn't fall out of the cart quite as readily, but this stuff gives my liquid a strange taste.

I don't want to deal with cutting up tea bags, so now I'm thinking of buying either organic wool or just getting new replacement carts. Any suggestions?

Hmmm all these suggestions have my head spinning.

Would any og these be safe and work well?

The easiest and cheapest thing to do, if you don't want to use Fluval, is to go to your local fabric store and buy 1/8 yard of polyester batting on the roll. It's slightly heat fused and tends to stay in the cart a little better, not as fluffy and hard to deal with as polyfil IMO.

I prefer the Fluval as long as you buy the right one and not the one that looks like a sponge. It needs to be rinsed first, but it holds juice and wicks really well.
