I gave up with the wire wool idea because I found the wire to be brittle and bits break off....I don't want to inhale any bits of wire!....but now I have a cart filled with the wicking mesh from old penstyle atomizers that I have taken apart and it seems to be working great so far.

Pete, unfortunately (or fortunately...lol) I have no dead atomizers to gather the mesh from. What about that "hobby wire" they were talking about? What exactly is that? Have you tried it yet?

just an odd note .....I have had some evo cartridges sitting in my drawer for a month....and I just looked at them and the polyester filling in all of them has turned a really dark brown...they were almost white when put away ....I wonder if it's some sort of chemical thing or perhaps bacterial growth?

Looks like you can choose, and it gives you the dimensions:
FINE:
Compares TO # 0 ~ #00 Steel Wool
Average Fiber Width:
50 microns (0.05mm) / 0.002" (2 mils)

i would suggest you watch this video Instant Fire From Steel Wool And A Battery - Video and read this thread stainless steel mesh as cartridge medium before further recommending or using steel wool in carts. this has all been suggested tried and discussed before.

That fire video: THat's amazing, thanks for posting. So what is it that's burning? The stell wool itself wouldn't burn (would it?)?
