Peanuts, Soda, Cigarettes?

Well, not so much E-Cigarette news, but hopefully, if this idea were to take off, it might put more pressure on airlines to allow E-Cigarette use, since the FAA does not allow cigarettes to be used on airplanes(I am assuming that's just on flights orig. and ending in US). I am unsure what exactly are other countries rules. sadly I think this would effect more people in Europe than it will have any real affect in US, but pressure is pressure if it gets popular.

One correction to your post;

The FAA has not banned electronic cigarettes on US aircraft. Whether e-cigs are used or not has been left up to the airlines at this point. Southwest and American Airlines are among the first to ban in flight use of e-cigs.

Sorry, think I got misread. I said the FAA banned cigarettes(not ecigs) and it might be pressure if this takes off, for at least for airlines in other countries to allow Ecigs instead of banning them like AA.

SmintAIR has been attempting this for several years now! Working in the airline industry, I truly do not see this happening, and if it does, I am pretty sure they wont be around long. They were looking to use Boeing 747-400's for their flights, and starting revenue service from Frankfurt, Germany to Tokyo, Japan.

Being that the 747-400 is not exactly fuel efficient, airlines need to cram as many seats in as possible to make a profit. Most airlines flying the 747-400 can accomodate between 300 and 400 passengers... One airline even crams in a whopping 568 seats!

Configuring this aircraft to accomodate only 138 passengers would require ticket prices exceeding fares on the BaE Concorde (Which topped $10,000 from New york to London)

Watching SmintAIR has always been an interest to me, Id be interested in seeing how they expect this to work!

I almost forgot... There is an airline in Europe, I believe based in the Netherlands that I am hearing is offering ECig sales to passengers onboard. Please note that I have not personally confirmed this.

I will keep you posted when I manage to get more info on this European airline that is said to bee selling ecigs onboard!

That'll be Ryanair, an Irish airline. This is an old-ish news link, but I have read somewhere that they do indeed sell them on board: Electronic Cigarette Producer in Talks With Airline
