Ok.. so first of, apologies for a long absence... my health as of late has not been so hot. Nothing serious although I'll be back in hospital (vaping from my ward bed! ) in a few days time.Ok... so the 510 is my second e-cig, and my first "proper" ecig... Love it to bits, although for the last few weeks the vapour has been non existant. Rather stupidly put this down to the fact I've stopped cutting my juice with Veg Gly. Last couple of days, I been wondering if the atty was just dirty and clogged. It still heats up and I can vape on it, just no smoke (figure of speech)... Right... so it probably needs a bally good clean. Looking through the site there are dozens of weird and wonderful ways of cleaning an atty, so I know there is no defacto method. I really cant be bothered to spend 24 hours dipping it in battery acid before using some nuclear proton fan to dry it... and was just wondering if anyone has a quick and easy tried and tested method to breathe a bit of life into old Sparky. Seriosuly I'm so lazy that i'm considering just buying new ones in rather than cleaning it. Chears in advance guys and girls |

i buy my 510 atomisers from smokejuice, they have a 6m warranty and Tim has been very kind in replacing mine when they break down even though i seem to go through them really quickly!

Nik how meny atties do you have? I normaly have about 8 working ones at any time but tend to use the best 3 daily. As they get bunged up I'll boil a few say 4 at a time then give them a day or two in a glass of coke. I bought a new one a few weeks ago, it just refused to break in so had to send it back. Some times new aint the answer. |

Boil them? The electrical connectors require that the inner and outer part of the connection are separate. Usualy kept apart by something like plastic or silicone. Otherwise the power would just go up to the atty and back down again. Would this melt or distrupt them? |

IMHO boil them? yip I boil them for 15min I try and get the steam to pass trough the center of the attie (through the hole) the gunk is partialy water soluable, the rest tends to break down with the coke bath. I ment to say after the coke bath I tend to let them sit in vodka for a few hours (unless I realy need one) If this dont do it my last resort is the dry burn (only had to do this a few times) to dry burn get a nice freash battery press the switch and let the attie cook for 10-30 secs if you are lucky bits of the gunk will have burnt off. put the attie back in the vodka adjitate it and some times you will see the gunk as a deposit in the vodka if the attie still gets hot but still no worky bin it if the attie dont get hot bin it (you will have burn out the coil put the attie back in the vodka adjitate it and some times Yeah I know this sounds excessive but It only costs about 17min of your time the mane bit is the 15min of boiling. after that 30 sec to pour a glass of coke and chuck the atties into it like wise with the vodka dont forget to prime the attie with juice prior to use |

Thanks for this! I have just two atties. The first I was using for as long as I have had the 510. 3 months ish? I swapped it with the one that came with the kit last night and man, it's like taking a breath of fresh air. Good taste, plumes of vapour... So I have the gunky waiting for me to decide what to do with it. Since I am going to buy a new one I think, I'll boil it like you said and chuck it in coke. See what happens. Just a couple of queries...... When you say boil it, but then say you try to get the steam to go through the middle... I take it you don't mean check the whole thing into a saucepan thats boiling? But how would you hold it in steam for 15 minutes without burning yourself? Sorry if this is really dumb. Second... will diet cherry coke work? I have some right here and wouldnt need to go and buy coke. ![]() I'll have a think and post back how my cleaning experiments go. |

Quick question for you Nik - do you mean you used just one atty for 3 months ??? I've been vaping for nearly 2 weeks (still a noob) but read somewhere to alternate daily so I've got two - use every other day and swap them every night. Need I not be doing this then or have you just been lucky ??? |

A lot of folks seem to rotate, I do this with my two main ones, I have a third one for menthol, but it doesn't get used nearly as much as the others. I'm just under four weeks with my original three...if I get another four weeks out of them I will be satisfied...if I get three months like Nik, I'll be delighted! ![]() The only problem I see with rotation is if you don't have spares, they could both pack in at the same time (or close to it anyways)...which is why I have a spare 5 pack of no warranty ones from TW as an emergency reserve...I'd be sick if I had to go vapeless for a few days, the unopened pouch of tobacco left over from my smoking days would be ripped open and consumed...eurgh! ![]() . |

Giving attys a rest seems to work for me. I find that if you just use the same one over and over, the performance drops off (even with draining), but if you rotate, they seem to appreciate the rest and work great when you go back to them! I have one atty that I used for almost 6 months (in rotation - but it was my favourite for a large proportion of hat 6 months, so got rotated more often, LOL!). It still works not too bad now, but I retired it to 'back-up' a couple of weeks ago because the performance wasn't top notch anymore. TBH, I seem to be 'retiring' old atomisers, rather than killing them, because they are lasting and lasting and lasting! (touches some wood quickly! )
