According to my doctor. I went to see him yesterday (I've got a serious throat infection ATM. The swelling put Mr Creosote to shame at one point) & one of the questions asked was did I smoke. I gave the "yes, no, gave up in March, use these now" speech, when I was explaining about e-cigs, he seemed to know what they were & put me down as N/S.

I suppose that will depend on the GP. Having said that Angela (who uses the same doc) seems to think he is fairly anti smoking, so whether that had any influence on what he put down, I don't know.... I must say, from a physical POV at least I do feel like a non smoker these days. No coughing fit in the mornings, I don't get out of breath when I walk to the pub (just shy of a mile & mostly up hill) (even if I'm made to feel like a smoker when I get there (see "Pubs that don't allow vaping" thread)) & I seem to have more energy when digging the veg patch at Angela's mother's house. |

Theres hope for us yet - hopefully gp's will take a stance on the e-cigs and maybe offer them as a means to give up along with patches, gum and the like

This is great news. I hope that this will start to become universally accepted here in the US as well. One the bureacratic nightmare that is our Food and Drug Administration is put in their place, we can celebrate. I have been so excited about this since I made my first purchase. I have spent countless hours researching, reading on this forum and checking out youtube video. I have learned so much. To second the feeling of health, I was a pack a day smoker for almost fifteen years. I switched to vaping, transitioning out the old analogs. First couple of days only smoked maybe 5 to 6. Then 4. Then 3. By the end of the first week, the taste of an analog made me ill. I would smoke about half, then reach for my e-cig. As of Tuesday, no analogs, and no desire for one. Can't wait to tell my Doc, hopefully won't have to see him this year for bronchitis or cough! I used to feel tired in the afternoon. When I would get home from work. I usually napped for an hour. Since vaping, I'm not tired, no napping necessary. I have lots more energy. Can't wait to see what next week brings. |

The NHS classifies you as a non-smoker after 3 months without inhaling tobacco smoke into the lungs. Some insurers even class current pipe and cigar smokers as non-smokers, while other still class NRT users as smokers. |

| Certainly looks like I am in the eyes of the NHS in general then.

"Into the lungs"? Does that mean I've never been a smoker then, being as I've never inhaled into the lungs and have just puffed on cigs then blown the smoke right out? I've always told doctors that was what I did (as well as using "ultra mild" 0.1mg nic Silk Cut Silver) - and one actually said that, in that case, I was more of a great passive smoker rather than an actual smoker. My GP is very enthusiastic about e-cigs ever since I gave him a "demo" back in Feb and he now seems to know all about them, so maybe he lurked on here for a while to educate himself | |
