    Default Newbie questions

    Hi All

I'd never even heard of e-cigs until last week when they had a demo in Durham centre....came home and googled straight away. Would be interested to know....

Have you found it helped you quit actual cigarettes (don't want to spend the cash if I'm only going to head to the shop for a packet of Berkeley methol)?

Whats the best e-cig to start with?

Do you find it saves you money?

Sorry if these questions have been asked and answered over and over - I had a quick look through and people are referring to models and types and I feel out of my depth !

I haven't smoked since I got my e cig. Your best bet would be to buy a cartomizer DPV9 or a mod, so you can get a good throat hit. And so far I haven't saved money because I keep buying new stuff, but if you buy the right things from the beginning then of course it will help you save money.

Check out the DPV9 at www.eastmall.net - Eastmall International Co.,Ltd
    Screwdriver at ecigscrewdriver.com
The adaptever AdapteveR Home of the ORIGINAL USA built PV : Home
Or a torch from garry dibley www.e-cigcity.co.uk
Or maybe even a janty stick from ivapor

If you get one of the mods including the js you wont have to deal with battery problems and the batteries are cheaper to replace.

    So lets say you spend

    100 pounds on a mod
    20 pounds on batteries
    30 on atomizers
    20 on e liquid

Thats a 170 to start out, after that you're looking into maintenance costs, lets say 2 new atties every month and more liquid. So that should run you around 30 pounds.

Becks I was really doubtful too (I heard about it from someone I follow on twitter) but having received a titan 510 on thursday, I have had 1 cig since, just one (and that was Thursday night)

Whatever you get, make sure you get some nic liquid with your first order, if I had had to go more than one day on the foul tasting cartridges that I was sent with my e-cig I would have been back on the tobacco, but am loving the chocolate liq.

    Hi Becks and welcome.
All Crash says is very true but may seem a bit daunting right now. Yoshimi is right about getting yourself some nicotine liquid too. You can refil any cart with whatever flavour you like. There is a very good offer on the DSE 901 at the moment here Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Mini (DSE 901).
In my opinion you could do far worse than start with something like that. Hope our opinions have helped you and if there is anything else please feel free to ask away.

Both me and my partner quit right away with e-cigs, our favorite being the 510. We bought cheaper versions at first (the ones from ebuyer Health E-Cig) and we got what we paid for, rubbish

I also own a Screwdriver (one of the mods Crash is talking about) I can suck on it all day without worrying about batterys.

I use my screwdriver (901) for everyday use and my 510 as my going out e-cig (black + blue) as it looks alot more stylish

I would suggest shopping around looking for the cheapist price on the model you are looking for, they will all be the same except for rebrandings. Also keep an eye out for discount codes to save a bit more money.

If you do decide to buy one I suggest that you only buy small bottles of liquid to start off with. Buy a few flavors till you find a favorite then you can order a bigger bottle, nothing worse than having 30ml bottles of a flavor you don't like (i do lol).

Also order the highest strength juice and cut it down will save you money.

Depending on what brand you was smoking, (if its duty free etc) you will most likely save money. I am saving money by not buying L&B's from the shops any more but I am not too worried about that.

If I had to I would spend abit more just for my health

Keep researching on the forum, don't rush into buying anything till you find what you are looking for.

    GL mate.

Thanks for the recommendations - have ordered a Titan 510 and some menthol cartridges (figured these might be easier than liquid at first till I know what I'm dealing with)

Decided that cost / saving money shouldn't be a factor as if I can make the switch I don't have to worry about lungs / stained teeth / smelly clothes etc and will probably save cash on perfume, hand sanitiser and breath mints

Also loving the idea that I won't have to stand outside under a brolly in the rain anymore

I just followed your lead Becks (although refrained from the menthol cartridges) and ordered the 510 starter pack. Would be interested to know how you're getting on...

Am quite daunted by all the talk of dripping/tailpiping/dry this that and the other - am guessing it will all make sense when I've got delivery and it will hopefully start to make more sense.

I haven't ordered any liquids, again due to lack of knowledge of what to get, what to look for, where to get it, and not really understanding. Problem is, reading too many threads offering many peoples opinions, and everyones different ways of doing the same thing just gets a bit too much.

Will give it a week when I get it and play it by ear after that...

I started with 401 my friend got the 510 the my 401 was much better than his 510, he sent back the attie and then his worked properly.
With the 510 give it a couple days for the attie to break after that it should be fun. Most people I know start off by using them as a compliment to smoking.
any problems or questions dont hesitate to post

    Hi Lurch

You really do need to order some liquid as the carts won't last you very long at all. Just start with a few small (5ml or so) bottles in flavours you like the sound of and take it from there.
