What has been done to improve QC?

I recall a post from Steve that consisted of an apology for defective batteries and a pledge to make efforts to improve QC both abroad and in the stock room at home.

Months later I get my first VT reg auto, and its not working right. The switch is insensitive. It even quite literally sticks on for 3-4 seconds after I suck wind trying to get it going. I've tried Morandir's fix, and it didn't work, which says to me there is a bit more wrong with this unit than the post alignment (in so far as it can be rotated into place).

OTOH the eGo and tank that I ordered are phenomenal, no complaints there.

It seems the auto batts have been, and are, the issue. I have sent back at least 8, 4 of them permanently, for gift credit. I'm really not enthusiastic about rolling the dice, again, in hopes of someone picking an auto batt that works out of the stock room and sending it to me.

Over the past few months I've become partial to manuals, which is like heresy for me, because I really prefer an auto, and when V4L autos work, they are hands down, the best. But frustration has taken me other places, both in terms of batteries, and in terms of this forum. I rarely post or come here any longer. And I don't order 'stick' manuals, because to me, what's the point. Autos are great because of the feel and compact size. If I'm going to push a button I'd rather use a home made box mod or vendor fat batt.

So what's honestly been done to improve things? Because I'm not seeing it.

I'm sticking to the auto diamonds myself, because like you, have experienced the VT autos aren't up to par. I like autos too, so until they fix the titans I'm still loving my diamonds. They work great on tanks too, but I always use a manual when I first fill a tank just in case there is any leakage.

I probably shouldn't say anything...............but hey, when has that ever stopped me? The issue with the VT Autos has been addressed and soon all will be well again. In an effort to address the constant issue of juice killing the Autos they tried a new sealed connector design and I personally applaud them for that. Unfortunately the newer design came with some setbacks that affected a small percentage of them. So if the older designs, newer manuals, cartos, chargers, OEM batts, and tanks work great I think they have earned a little slack on the Auto issue.

perhaps, but defective units are still going out the door.

EDIT: And perhaps I expressed myself poorly, but my intention isn't to deny anyone slack. I'm asking a question and expressing my frustration openly on the forum, which I haven't done yet because, quite frankly, I hadn't been *this* frustrated.

First off, I am sorry that you are having trouble. I know that auto batteries can be frustrating. I have been to the factories that produce our batteries. We take quality control very seriously! The problem with auto batteries quite frankly is the juice. If you refill, or use tanks you are without a doubt going to have problems. This is caused by the need for holes that produce airflow, which in turn trigger the switch. I get "defective" batteries back daily and when i open them up, they are soaked with juice. We are actively looking for a solution to this.
