I have a KR808 (or mega battery or XL) with a 510 adapter. If I take the adapter off I should be able to use the V4L cartomizer on it, right?

I believe so, but I would highly recommend getting one of the new larger hole manuals... Best VK yet, and least expensive yet to boot.

Mine is an XL manual... isn't that the same thing? Plus I also ordered another extra long manual battery with the cartos.

I have a shortie manual, and it has bigger holes, which means for a lighter draw.

Both batteries work just fine with the cartos though...just a different kind of draw.
