Bingo! You are so right, Wingedwheel! The rubber endcaps and the silicone protective caps smell funny! The solution: unwrap your cartos, remove the caps and give them a quick soak in either warm water with a drop of dishwashing liquid or in vinegar (or vinegar and water solution). Half an hour to an hour is plenty. Rinse, dry and use. Or, if you have them, get some drip tips (Ben, you should carry them). Solves the smell problem and additionaly improves airflow through the carto.

Another problem I have with them is that some of the stickers cover the airflow notches on the bottom of the carto. Minor problem but not a good thing (QC). Looks like some (all?) of the stickers are 1/8" taller than the cartos. Those notches at the bottom (battery end) of the carto are there for a reason and mustn't be covered. I had to grab my exacto knife to trim off the racing stripe. No exacto knife? Rip the sticker off the carto and go stainless.

Other than that, they are great if not better than the earlier ones. Very nice draw, perfect vapor and flavor production, perfect airflow, perfect hit every time. Refilling is a snap. The combination of good airflow and higher resistance (3.1-3.3 Ω) makes them highly burn resistant, if not burn proof.

    Good job, Ben!

A quick follow-up after two days of playing with my new Turbos.

The funny smell is all gone from the rubber caps that have been washed and air dried for about 24 hours (both dishwashing liquid and vinegar work). It's a non-issue IMO. I think that the protective caps and cellophane wrappers trap whatever smells are emitted by those rubber caps, but once opened, it all goes away. Ben, do they need to be wrapped? Anyway, my advice to those who are sensitive to any off odors is to unwrap the cartos and take off the protective silicone caps right away and let them air out (or wash/rinse them briefly). There is absolutely no foul smell inside the cartos. Zero.

The stickers glued over the notches on the bottom threads of the cartos: only three of them had that problem. I opened and inspected every single one and they are fine. So that was just a glitch, it seems. All's well.

    Enjoy your weekend, everyone!
