There are some people on the forums that can NEVER get an atty to last more than a week or two. There are others that swear they've been using the same atty for months now.[/quote]

Well I am hoping to get more use out of my 510 then just a month before I must replace parts sounds like I should order spare parts now rather than later! Is there a PV out there that will last 6month - 1 year and is decent?

You should get long life out of most 510 attys... they do decline though. I haven't lost one yet (I have some that are over 4 months old easily and I vape constantly).

Clean them out every once in a while (or when you change flavors). I use EverClear alcohol to soak them 24 hours, blow out and let dry (no water, no rinsing... it evaporates off fast, and I flick my wrist with them like a thermometer to get the alcohol out and dry). Reprime the atty well with e-liquid (about 4 drops for a 510) and let soak in... refill the cart and take a few soft hits to move the liquid down the bridge into the pot and put more drops on the atty if it seems to need it.

If your atty is dry vaped and scorched, the everclear will clean the nasty taste out of it too (a common mistake for a new vaping person... especially with a 510). Fry's food stores has it, on the bottom shelf near the Vodka I think.

Plenty of e-liquid is the KEY to long atty life. Vape them dry and they won't work well taste like a burned shoe and die a dry nasty death, lol.

Get plenty of atomizers!! Really you should have 5 to 10 sitting around in wait. I have uhhh *a few* more than that sitting around. Not taking chances on the FDA dorks putting the kabosh on my vaping!!

    Default How many

How many posts or how much time has to pass before I can start a new thread? I didn't see it in the FAQ..

I actually had a question about the differences between the 510, the 801 and the 901 models. I've been reading the reviews, but its a bit difficult to put some side-by-side comparisons together. So, if anyone has used any combo of these 3, or know what the differences are...

    Thanks in advance,
    David

Hey David welcome to the forum. I don't remember how many it takes to post a new thread anywhere you want but I think it was 10 - 15. Here is a link. Newly registered members - Please read!

Also remember many people will give you there opinion. There are differences between the 510, 901, and 801 and many have there favorite. I started with a 510 and use one everyday, but I also have found I like the 901 and my new 801 for different reasons. Some is flavor and some is draw. I have even found some is for how much eliquid I can put in the carts... I started with a 510 because it was the only manual at the time but now I have seen 901's also so it really is up to your preference. I don't know if this help at all so I am sorry but the best way to find out if you will like it is to try it....

Hi David - 15 before you can start a thread or post links.

I've used all 3. All have good points/bad points. LOL Yah... I know, hard to choose and figure out what is going to work best for you.

    901
    • The only one I don't use regularly is the 901. I don't like the way the atty brings in air and find I have to double hit it to get it to vape well.
    • People say better flavor on this model (I never saw it that way).
    • It does have a manual sealed battery available.
    • Auto bats are awful on these, short life.
    • I use my pink one once in a while because it is pink... not because I like it much. ha

    801
    • Can be leaky and you can get juice in your mouth if you overfill or draw too hard.
    • Largest available cart size.
    • Longest life of stock batteries. Downside is auto batteries aren't sealed and liquid can get in them and make them stick and not work right.
    • Manual batteries are available and sealed, so no worries about liquid getting inside the battery (the only way to go if you are using a stock battery but you have to have a small USB 801 charger or adapter for the manual batteries).
    • Both Manual/Auto batteries run about 4 hours. Auto batteries give better vapor, but liquid goes inside of them, so you can't stand up an assembled unit on end unless you are using a sealed maual battery which puts out a bit less voltage.
    • It is the perfect atomizer for a battery modification. I prefer the low bridge (302, BE112 or generic 801 low bridge types such as RN4072).
    • Finding a good filler material is rough (just started using the large hole fish filter foam (not fluvial) and it is working really well from PetCo).
    • A straw mod helps the polyfill in standard carts wick well. LOVE the low bridge attys (302) on the Chuck mod. Brings the atomizer to a whole new level!
    • Best for flavor
    • Larger cart size means not having to refill every 5-8 drags!!

    510 (Joye)
    • TINY cart size. You'll refill often unless you can get the hang of some of the mods (spring, plug, etc.). Drives me nuts. I don't drip... that can lead to a dry atty and shorten life, so I just never have done it. I don't pay attention enough to drip, ha.
    • Long lasting atty life (I've never lost a single one and I purchased my first kit/attys back in June!).
    • Short battery life on the stock batteries can be overcome with the PCC and TW's charger that charges 5 batteries at a time and/or by purchasing the Mega Power batteries. Totally Wicked has them, Janty has them (called a Dura C XL) and maybe a few other suppliers, as I heard they were available for a little while to all suppliers, then that stopped again, sighhh). If you still think you want a cigarette size PV, a MP battery won't work so well (for me that never mattered so I jumped on the MP batteries when they came out).
    • Great throat hit on the 510.
    • Big vapor with a properly juiced atty (not too wet/not too dry).
    • A bit less flavor from some liquids. Others I find I like better in the 510 (menthol!!).
    • I hardly ever have flooded one.
    • It is what kicked me off of smoking for good.
    • A good choice for anyone though you have to keep them very wet in order to vape well and not burn the wicking under the bridge in the atomizer. That is the biggest complaint about this model from new users ("It tastes burned!!" problem with user - not with model). Put a drop on the atty bridge every time you refill and you probably won't have problems with bad taste.
btw - There are other manufacturers making the 510 "Model" parts and kits.
Joye is recommended for 510 parts since for me they have been so reliable.

I use both the 510 and Penstyle (302 atty) equally all day.

That would be awesome! I'm absolutely in! I'd really love to meet you (and of course see Vicky again..she's a real sweetie) and any of the others that can make it (Ya, I'm looking at you Juicy, Miakauisan, Rob, Martin, et al). My schedule is good for any week night after 6:00pm. Only weekend mornings/afternoons are bad for me..which is always when the VIP meetings are haha. I've been to ONE meeting so far, and it was such a blast. I get a little bummed that I haven't been able to attend since the inaugural VIP meeting.

How bout this.. are you and Vicky (and anyone else that wants to meet up) free this Wednesday night? Around 7:00ish? No particular reason for that night or time, I can do any night this week and I'm fairly flexible with the time..but figured I'd just throw a day out and work from there. As for the place, Hazelwoods is good for me. We're all familiar with it and I work fairly close to there, but I"m definitely open for any suggestions. I'm not sure of any other Vaping friendly establishments (well, other than the Tilted Kilt on Warner and Kyrene, but figured you probably don't wanna see half nekkid girls or come that far east). I could really use a drink after the week I had last week haha so let me know if this works for you or what your alternative suggestion is. Let's do this!

I was just coming here to say how much I really want and *need* to meet some other vapers! I need to observe how/what you all do LOL

If a noob can come to your little soiree, I would love to join. The only times I am not available are on Sat/Sun and Thursday night for kids sports!

    Hi All,
I am a relative noob (4 months of vaping, ~ 2 months as a full switch from the 3 pack a day non-digital variety.) I originally got what seems to be a 510 nockoff, and 2 DOA mini paper weights, from there I graduated to a 901, 510, and 112 (pen style) USB passthroughs, and a myriad of accutrements for all. Two months sans tobacco, now I am helping friends make the switch. It is nice to see so many helpful people in the Phoenix area! Can anyone tell me if there is anyone selling the nicotine "juice" local in Phoenix (or steer me to a thread if I missed it I have a friend in dire need of Menthol, and I am not finding a place. (I am near 7th street and the 10 if that helps.
