Default Any E-Liquid DIYers in the group?

OK, so I've decided that I want to try and start mixing my own e-liquid but I'm having trouble finding someplace local to buy VG and/or PG. Does anyone in the group mix their own stuff? Where do you get your supplies?

I would love to try & start mixing my own juices too. Maybe if we have a DIY mixer in the group, they could do a little teaching demo at one of the meets.

I plan on getting into DIY once a get a little more acquainted with vaping. Being a chef, it's hard for me not to want to fiddle with flavors LOL. I was thinking a french toast with bananas or a s'moores flavor would be heavenly.

    Oh yay, DIY!

I'd like to have a meeting where we do DIY. Will need everyone to get supplies together first. Here are some that I know of:

Electronic Ash Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce Has PG (500ml $10.49). Their Coupon code: ecigforum for 25% off on their sale right now.
You can get it from a Pharmacy, but don't pay more than the Electronic Ash price with shipping! I bought it when I was new, and paid $27.00 for a small bottle from Walgreens. Might want to call different pharmacies or find a compounding pharmacy near you to order it from and pick it up.

Vegetable Glycerin: 1 gallon for $16.00 or small 16oz USP $3.65 (good price). Shipping is about that, or more, so might want to place an order for other things, or find someone to split and order together.
Glycerin, Vegetable (Kosher USP) - Bulk - Wholesale
You can also find small bottles locally at Michaels, herbary shops, natural food stores, Walmart, etc.

    LorAnn's extracts:
Locally: ABC Bakery, Cake Supplies (right down the road from our meeting!!)
    2853 E Indian School Rd
    Phoenix, AZ 85016 (602) 224-9796

or on line at Betty's Country Grocery
Bettys Country Grocery - Product Catalog

    Capella's flavoring are very good:
flavored shake, water flavor drops, flavor water, fruit drops, Flavored water, coffee flavors, bottled drinking water - Testimonials
    Get the discount codes here:
Capella Flavor Drops ECF Discount & Sale If those don't work anymore, you can get the ECF discount by using ECF10 for 10% off. In June, they have a big sale and put everything at 1/2 off! (coupon codes not good then).

I just bought one of the kits from ecigsmokestore.com and I'm working on simple, single flavor eliquid right now. I have a couple of mixes in mind though...

    Status Update:

    After a 5 hour trial run here's a few thoughts I have.

    1. Using your roommate as guinea pig is invaluable...
    2. Practice measuring out liquid in your syringes/droppers prior to starting.
    3. 3ml bottles are awesome for experimenting.
    4. Those little bottles of flavoring pack a punch. A single drop of pmegranate will rock your socks.
    5. Be careful washing those syringes out...the printed lines might just wash off >.<
    6. Wear your gloves, there will be dripage.
    7. Your PG/VG/Nic Juice might not drip too well straight out of the bottle, a syringe with a hefty needle on the end of it will help here.
    8. Different guage needles are your friends
    9. It makes sense that you'll want to test out your creation before claiming success. You might want to do so with an atty that has been broken in...you also might want to have something handy to wash the current flavor out with...unless you've been dying to find out how Mint Pomegranate Cappuccino tastes
    10. I transfered my flavorings from the nifty glass bottles to plastic dropper bottles, it just seemed easier that way.
    11. If you are doing this without the EJucie calculator...then you are way cooler than me.
    12. Don't feel too bad if you totally screw a batch up, if I've learned anything tonight...it's that there's going to be one hell of a learning curve with this. It's all trial and error, so be creative. If a flavor doesn't work out the first time don't write it off, a good imagination goes a long way...well it goes until that particular flavor runs out anyway

    Good list!

I had a Nyquil or other small medicine cup here that had ml measurements on it, and it has come in quite handy.

Also, I found a large medicine measure with a squeeze bulb top for children that has ml measurements on it at the 99 Cent Only store (yeah, .99) where the children's/baby items are located. I bought one for PG, one for VG and several for flavors so there isn't a cross contamination. I found my syringe to be too clumsy (well, I'm too clumsy) and the squeeze bulb is wide enough to suck up any thickness.

I use a small glass dropper to use the LorAnn's or you can buy them made specifically for their bottles on their website (and you can put your nic liquids in them with a dropper top when they are empty, great little travel bottles).

Smaller medicine squeeze bulb measures can be found at Walgreen's for about .99 and last week I found 2 in a clearance bin for .50.

    Mint Pomegranate Cappuccino ewwwwwww lol

Thanks for all the responses Guys/Gals

Juicy -- I agree!! Now I just need to be able to ATTEND a VIP meeting

miakauisan -- If you score with the s'mores..I'll buy some! I was unsuccessful trying to jam graham crackers, chocolate bars and marshmallows into my atomizer...

Hellen -- THANKS as always you've come through! I'm trying to avoid mail order (as I'm an instant gratification guy..besides being a cheap bastard) but if all else fails I'll try it. I've tried the Michael's out by me (Ray and I-10 area) and the CVS on Chandler and 48th, but no success. Thanks for the discount code hookup. Speaking of which...Oh all knowing, all seeing Queen of VIP, are there any new discount codes for VIP that we should be aware of that you haven't shared already? I know some have expired. Oh..and just a side note.. I probably should have read the rest of your last post before trying to vape Nyquil...my recommendation is not to try this,..but it DID stop the sniffling, sneezing, coughing, stuffy head, fever so I could rest..

PhxR0b -- Wow! Testing on a roomate...that's a much better idea than I had of testing on my 5 and 8 year old....KIDDING! Please don't call CPS on me haha..but, it looks like (based on your post) that this will be more complicated than I thought it would be. So much for me thinking "Oh..I can just eye ball the measurements" haha. Good info! Thanks!

Pomegranate is one of those seriously in your face flavors. Now one of my darling little girls got me sick over the weekend, so my judgment of taste and throat hit is probably going to be off a little but but here's what I went with on a 3ml tester.

The below info is pasted from the EJucie Calculator. and it basically states that I'm starting out with 60mg NicJuice, I wanted to end up with 18mg, I wanted 3ml of liquid total, with 1% of the mix being flavoring.

    Base Nic % 60 mg
    Target Nic % 18 mg
Amount to be made 3 ml
    Water (Optional) 0 %
    Flavor 1 %

    Here's the output!

    Ingeredient.................ml drops* Percentage
    PG or VG with nicotine..0.9 18 30.0%
    PG or VG (no nicotine)..2.1 41 69.0%
    Water....................... 0.0 0 0.0%
    Flavoring(s).................0.0 1 1.0%

Now as stated above, I took one wiff of pomegranate and came out of it with a black eye. I'd read some stuff around the forums that said VG will improve vape at the cost of reducing the flavor. So I used .5ml of VG and 1.6ml of PG.

My result is a nice cloudy vapor that has a bite going in and a bite going out. I'll hold off on modifying this recipe at least until I'm not sick any more. Until then though, it tastes pretty good with Cherry Honey Ricola!

    Johnson creek original, anyone??

The above link to a thread on how to make Johnson's Creek Tennessee Cured is EXCELLENT and has info. on Tobacco Absolutes and some of the other flavorings that are found in commercial liquids (a must for good DIY).

Oh, crud, I can't remember how to multi-quote. Dang it! I'll post more later.
