    Default Thanksgiving, Family and Coping!

Who has family coming for Thanksgiving. My family is now just my 2 kids, 2 grands and Mike. No problems there. My son and daughter bicker..but in a been there done that way, like they have been doing since they were 6 and 7. The grandboys are well..boys! Mike and I always fight about everything..but in that shorthand only long married couples have.."yeah..soooo..ok". All that would have taken 3 hours, slammed doors and lots of tears as newly weds!
    So no problems this year.

I'm dreading Thanksgiving and Christmas. It is the first without my sister. I'll be OK but I'm really concerned about my BIL...I just know he's going to be majorly depressed. In fact, Nov and Dec will be bad months. Their wedding anniversary is Nov. 13 and her birthday is Dec. 13. His granddaughter wants him up in KY for Thanksgiving...I think it would be good for him to go because the great-grandkids would distract him. They'll be down for Christmas too.

I guess I am lucky, Mom wasn't into the holidays at all. It was always like pulling teeth to get her up here or to talk her into going to my daughters. I don't know why. But this year won't be much different without her. One year she went to the Bahama's with a friend so she could skip Christmas!
I think she disliked Holidays after my sister passed away. My sister loved them more then any little kid!

When my entire family were together for holidays all the adults did was fight.. That's all we did.. Someone was always in their moods, and their underoos in a knot.. Now that we had no choice but to close the door to the remaining of the family. there is only my mother, my step father, and I.. Yet usually my mother invited afew people who are alone for the holidays so they have somewhere to eat great food and enjoy the day.. But my mother got sick and is in a retirement home at the moment, since getting out of the hospital.. She is suposed to be home next week, but if she isn't and my step father and I need to do Thanksgiving or worse Yule, I HATE cooking so I don't know how and we've been eating garbage *LOL*.. Yet I adore Cooking Shows, Go figure *LOL*.. Maybe a DeGornio Self Rising Pizza for Thanksgiving?? *LOL*

Angel..just order in! Most grocery stores do a small Thanksgiving dinner to take home. Mom once did KFC! LOL!
I remeber the big Thanksgivings from when I was a kid. Lots of Aunts and Uncles with kids and Great Aunts. But it got too out of hand with all the growing families. I was more happy with smaller get togethers and some friends. A lot less stress.

Last year me and my husband went to an all-you-can-eat buffet for Thanksgiving. Neither of us wanted to cook, or deal with leftovers, or cleaning...

But... we found out this is a good option only if you like being around lots of people.

I'm not sure what we'll do this year. Maybe just go earlier or something. Seeing as how Thanksgiving is not very far off in the future, SOMETHING needs to be decided soon, I guess.

.. which reminds me of a couple of friends my husband will probably suggest, who like to spend all day cooking, then sit down and eat Thanksgiving dinner in front of the TV. (I guess this is a good indication of addiction to The Tube.)

*sigh* Never again. For me, Thanksgiving is a time to gather, and talk, and enjoy each other's company without distractions like a loud TV.

    We'll see how it goes.

Not doing too good here, I have just gotten word that my ex is going to have open heart surgery this Thursday. This is the father of my 2 wonderful girls whom love both Momma And Daddy. This is unsettleing(sp) and at the same time kind of a test for the noobie. Even though I have yet to receive my shipment. Will all please say a silent prayer for those who are in need, scared, alone and afraid.

Oh..I am so sorry! I hope his surgery goes well! They do amazing things these days. My husband had a triple by pass 11 years ago and is still doing well. He always says it was harder on us then him...he got to sleep thru it!
I will of course say some Prayers for your childrens Father and for you and the kids as well.

Step outside for a vape when you need it..take some water and snacks. If you have a cd player or some type of mp3..it helps relax you.
If you need to smoke..then do it and then try to vape for a while. After a while the vaping will feel better.
