Thx MaryKay,
Love all your emoticons btw...
I needed that... I know, I sit and put things into perspective... Yep, my job here is never done, it seems. I do account for that- & I have a honey-do list a mile long of course... Just wish he would "do" a little more often- LOL
I can't complain too much... My husband is at 90% now... When he first got out he was at 60%... It took over 2 yrs for them to get him rated for the first rating... It was a nightmare to say the least... He got upped to 90% after his colonoscopy and a small operation that stemmed from what was found then... he had a heart attack and stent and multiple hospital stays and it has been since 2006... nothing yet... He was told if he filed for individual unemployability they would give him 100% right away- That is what makes me so mad- He was 39 when he had his heart attack, his dad died at 42 of a heart attack... When my husband had it, they saw massive scarring all over his heart indicating he had multiple heart attacks prior to "the big one" that actually sent us to the hospital... They put a stent in due to him having one artery w/ 100% blockage... the stent they used has a class action suit against it- It is a drug inducing stent that has been known to kill people due to the type of drug that is being released from it... They knew this when they used that particular one to put in him... He has been in the hospital many times since w/ complications- The VA here has no cardiac unit or doctors so he has to go there first, get sent to Duke (usually) which is 2 hrs away... I keep saying they are trying to wait until he dies- Grrrrr! & although with these problems, he looks healthy, he is still muscular, big body build type, and can work- yet they want him to sit around on the couch (filing individual unemployability) and then they will just GIVE him 100%- yet his file has been up at the rating board since 2006. they have issued more tests, ordered more physicals, etc etc and still haven't rated his heart condition... which was a direct result of another disability he has rated already... It is so maddening and frustrating... The biggest deal about the difference between the ratings is with 100% he will be allowed to go to the regular military hospital (Womack) rather than constantly the VA where he gets no help IF he were having another heart attack, stroke, etc... It would give all of us medical privilages through the military, commisary use, etc- the kids college, and so on and so forth... 90% doesn't allow him these things! And, of course, every time he has gone in the hospital, they have to send him to the civilian hospital... Duke, Pinehurst, Cape Fear... whereever they send him based on the existing problem, then WE get the bill- and the VA drags azz to take care of it to the point our credit gets hit... Good thing medical is not a huge deciding factor in credit- However, it does lower your score...(again, as a newly resigned Business manager, this was my job- getting people loans)- Grrrrr! Again! Oh man! Not meaning to vent again this morning... LOL
I talk to my son often, try to understand what he is feeling, We have a great relationship, which is great- I guess he could be feeling pressure too- & I am probably putting some of that pressure on him myself... I will take another long deep look at ME... I swear, I would never become my mom to my kids... I know we all say that, huh? Unless you had June Cleaver for a mom- LOL Which I did not... & no comment on my "all military dad"- loved the military but my dad didn't leave work at work- so at home we got the Drill Sgt style dad... We have taken care not to treat our kids like that...
Okay, I am rambling again- Good to get some of this out... The VA is probably the worst frustration right now- & because my husband had yet another appt recently which set this all off again for me... *sigh- as usual...
