Kathy if you look around all the social groups, like this one, you may find others you also like. The more the better. Typing helps take some of the hand to mouth issues away. (for me it's all the spelling corrections..)
Also when you do get your Joye..post all e-cig questions in the newcomers forum, that way you learn from other's questions and others can learn from your questions. I know I had about 60 billion questions, thankfully most were answened by using the search feature. The rest were answered by the kind folks of ECF.
You handled all your other issues and now want to tackle smoking. With your track record..you should have no problems!! Wow! You sure have some kind of will power.
I once had a guy tell me that change of life was a made up thing and it was all in my head...Did I mention..ONCE.

When you get your new kit, if anything goes wrong or doesn't work as you think it should, don't panic or get upset, just fly to ECF and scream at your fellow members for help. And don't think you've got to STOP smoking baccy fags immediately. Just be very laid back about it, treat the e-cig as a new toy you've got to learn to use and there's no hurry.

Well, that's my advice for what it's worth - I've done plenty of panicking and screaming for help

Scylla: I certainly will holler if/when I need help.

And I'm glad you mentioned that, not thinking about absolutely forever quitting "baccy fags" (as you so colorfully call them) from the minute I vape for the first time. It is exactly like a new toy, and I need some playing around with it first. Fun!

Plus, as I said, this does feel so much more laid-back than other times I've thought of quitting or did quit smoking. If they'd come out with this years and years ago, I would have quit long ago.

MK: Oh yes, I have visited and read all the info in the regular threads, newbies, etc. That's how I got all my info about what to order and how. I had no idea there was so much going on, so many choices, at first.

I will share and learn on those threads, for sure. But I love having this thread for our particular issues.

You know, I wouldn't call it will power, seriously. More like some kind of grace, that I've managed to make changes or allow changes to happen at the right times. The medication does help -- before, I was paralyzed by the thought of certain challenges. I'm much more of a go-with-the-flow person. Oh, but there's a lot more to it than that...about which some other time.

I think I'm going to get my starter kit in the USPS today!

Hello everyone Nice to see I'm not the only one who has a hard time with menopause symptoms. I am having a horrid time with hot flashes. Have any of you tried visualization/meditation for menopause symptoms? Since I, once again find myself without insurance, I’ve tried everything over the counter (including bio-identicals) with little luck. The one thing that will allow me to sleep for around 3-4 hours is visualization/meditation.

I do this when I lay down to sleep. I ‘see’ myself, (in the month of January), without a survival suit, floating in the Bearing Sea. I allow the freezing cold water to dissipate the heat (which, by the way, could melt chocolate nicely LOL) Depending on the severity of the symptoms at the time, I will see chunks of ice floating around me to help keep the water cold. This technique has seriously worked for me on occasion.

One time when it was particularly bad I visualized myself lying on an ice floe. That wasn’t such a good idea… the hot flashes melted the floe and without notice (or even imagining that could happen) I found myself in the water! Which caused me to spontaneously come out of meditation and gasp loudly. (you know, from all that water that ended up in my windpipe/lungs). This woke hubby up—yet again. He grabbed his stuff, and grumbled under his breath as he made his way to sleep in the spare bedroom. <sigh>

Another idea my warped mind (it’s amazing how crazed the symptoms of menopause can make you!) came up with for the hot flashes… Ghost hunters tell us the room gets very cold when a ghost is attempting to manifest. I think we need research into capturing and controlling ghosts. So that when we feel the hot flash coming on (i.e. mild to extreme shortness of breath, stomach turning over, the initial flash of heat under the skin and a general feeling of not feeling well at all) we can summon our personal ghost to manifest and cool us down quickly. Think of it, no fuss, no muss, nothing to carry around with you, just say the words and poof! the air around you gets chillingly cold. But then, we’d need some sort of heating device to take care of the “after chills”.

Hmmmm think that idea needs more work.

I installed an air conditioner in my room. It helps a lot. A shame that I never get to sleep under my beautiful soft comforter anymore. I fold it to the end of the bed and the dog steals it during the night. Once in a while I'll wake up freezing cold and have to wrestle it away from him.

I knew I joined this forum for a reason.... I'm with ya on that miserable menopause Shatosa. I have a suggestion that you might want to try. There are estrogen and/or progesterone creams available OTC. For awhile I had very good luck w/one sold by Arbonne, enough that I signed up to be a seller, just so I could buy it cheaper. There are also similar things sold in health food stores and they're cheaper. I only used the Arbonne b/c it was the first one I learned about (my neighbor gave me a bottle w/a bit left in it and I was sold) but I don't think they're all that different.

Eventually, I got off track w/it (I didn't follow the instructions re: taking a week off each month, and after that it didn't work quite as well for me) so now I've been taking Lexapro - but that's starting to make me fat
so my dr. is changing me to Wellbutrin. I'm really trying to avoid hormones if I can.

Anyway, just thought I'd throw that info out there...good luck...hot flashes / insomnia suck big time.

Smoking kills. If you're killed, you've lost a very important part of your life.

Thanks for the suggestion--and support on the symptoms. Yes, I've tried the OTC creams, too. Not much help. And now, after one day of having an ecig (DSE801) I think I know why.

In the last 24 hours, I've had maybe 4 very mild hot flash episodes. And two of those came after having an analog. So maybe it is all those other chemicals in the analogs that are contributing to the severity of the hot flashes in my case.

Another wonderful thing happened... For the first time in a very long time, I slept through the night without waking up every 2-3 hours. It's amazing how good you feel after 8 full straight hours of sleep. I don't know if this is due to the cessation of analogs and only inhaling nicotine or not. But I can't think of any other reason for it.

Now, if only the fuzzy brain syndrome (or foggy thinking which leads to warped brain ideas LOL) would go away, I'd be ecstatic!
