I eat when I'm happy, sad, bored, whenever... And I love food, the richer the better, good gravies, lotsa butter. I have absolutely no willpower when it comes to food. Food makes me happy. That is my problem, that and I'm now in my 50's and my metabolism has completely changed.

So my sister and I joined weight watchers online (on sunday). She lives in Dutch Harbor Alaska (just lost her husband 12/15) and I here in CA. I'm really hoping that we can pull this off. I'm really going to try. I think w/the guidance of WW I can do this. The reason I picked weight watchers is their track record. They have just been around for ever, and I think once I learn portion control and a new way of eating I will be okay.

And now w/this thread on top of it, I'm thinking this just might work ...

Good Luck to everyone who is trying to better their health/lives. It sure isn't easy... ... ...
Hey vikki59, so glad you found us! All you have to do is remember one meal at a time and you should do just fine. I was up a bit late last night and got the munchies so I got a palmful of wasabi peanuts and ate one at a time and chewed thoroughly each and every one of them. It is something I have learned for my way of dealing with the extra pounds. Chew more thoroughly and don't be in as much of a rush because it taste so good.
I know the peanuts sound crazy, but I love wasabi (high in taste) and the nuts are a good snack. They settle that I want something now feeling.

Anyone here a hungry girl fan? I love her but need to start following her stuff more closely
I remember when I was working at the Credit Union we had a girl that before eating would make her rounds around the interior. She would leave her office and go to the front end, up the stairs, to the back and down the back stairwell. She did it for 10 minutes everyday!

Oh-½ pound less today than yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok WAY to many sweets this week!!! I woke up this morning, skipped the coffee and cream replaced it with a multivitamin and a caffeine pill lol. Now I'm cleaning the house, checking in on the boards and thinking of all the other things I need/have/want to do the rest of this week I hope to take the dog on a walk this evening and get some proper exercise in we live in a condo complex that has great hills and big sets of stairs so when I actually get out there it is a guaranteed great work out

I have tried some of the hungrygirl recipes. DD told me about it, so I read up here: Hungry Girl. They are really good. You guys have some great recipes going in here. Gonna' try some, especially since I make a lot of soups for the work week, and it stretches your budget too!

I need to check into the hungry girl recipes!
Amanda, that is great idea-I should get some multivitamins. I hate taking pills though, so that is another thing to add to list of things I need to get better at doing.

5vz, budget stretching would be nice!!!!!!

Hi Vikki, glad you can join us
God if I can just get away from those late night munchies I'd be ok......But for some reason English muffins with Extra extra butter and jam just sucker me in every darn time!

HzG - I'm going to try your deserts too, I don't eat many of those as I eat too much junk food. These sound delicious though! (I actually like cottage cheese so that will be Spring and Summer breakfast.)

You are all doing so well. I have not kept my promise to myself, and I should just say it. Not a single workout, just cold, dark and not into it when I come home. I do try to do a few things here and there, but nothing I would count as exercise. It would help if I didn't come home and to turn on the computer to read here.

Has anyone ever tried the oven fried chicken recipe? I love it! Mom got it from a diabetes cooking cook book, but here is a similar one. You can use cheaper cornflakes instead of Special K or even use on the bran cereals. Or just dusting in flour. I know those of you that are not eating flour, breads, etc... will not like that, but you can grind up a healthfood cereal for crunchy texture.

    Ingredients:

    2 teaspoons dried thyme
    2 teaspoons dried oregano
    2 teaspoons dried basil
    2 teaspoons garlic powder
    2 teaspoons kosher salt
    2 teaspoons fresh black pepper
6 skinless, boneless chicken breasts (I prefer dark meat, but you know...)
2 cups plain nonfat yogurt (or buttermilk; plain milk; or even low fat mayo- for coating)
2 cups Special K cereal, crushed with a rolling pin or in a food processor or coffee grinder
    Nonstick cooking spray

    Prep:

    1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.

    2. In a large plastic bag, combine the thyme, oregano, basil, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Shake well. Add two breasts at a time to the bag and shake to coat the chicken. Continue until all the breasts are coated.

    3. Place the yogurt in a large bowl, and the cereal on a large plate. Dip each breast in the yogurt and then in the cereal. Place the chicken breasts on a baking sheet sprayed with nonstick cooking spray.

    4. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes, until the chicken is brown and cooked through. Do not cover or turn the chicken during the baking process.

    5. When the chicken is completely cooked, remove the baking sheet from the oven and let cool ten minutes before serving.

Glad you are joining us Vikki. A partner-your sister can be a big help to each other. Is your sister where she can join us also. Sorry to hear about her husband.

Good job Hz. You are really an inspiration...

The soup recipe really sounds good....
I remember a soup recipe that was going around that was all you ate for some days. Main thing I remember was cabbage, and think it was the Dolly Parton Cabbage Soup diet. I liked the soup, but remember I didn't want to see another bowl of it after a few days...

Yes Hz, one at a time, smaller plates, and chew, chew, chew. Congrats on the 1/2lb.

Thank you 5vz for the baked chicken recipe. It sounds really delicious....

The weather was nice here today. I had enough stamina to get a small walk in.

    Good for you Toto!

Gosh all your recipes sound so good, I'm gonna have to try that chicken now too.

Well, I was a good girl today. I made it to the gym and hiked an hour up hill on the treadmill. Now my knees hurt, I think I better eat a cookie

That would be the one package to refuse delivery-Stamp it, 'Return To Sender'!
