    Default Fall Projects

Fall is generally the time when I take on some new project or craft. How about everyone else?

This year I am attempting a difficult quilt for my 15 year old. He is into anything asian and loves ying-yang symbols. Hopefully this works! I am going to make a quilt from old jeans, with 12 inch blocks - a Ying Yang symbol centered on each... Jeans are so hard to quilt with but, boys are hard on stuff and that is the only material I think he wont destroy before he gets to college! I may end up just tying it instead of quilting, will have to see.

That's quite a fall project you picked out...when you're done, you'll have to take a pic and post it.

Fall projects...well, we don't have fall in Florida, lol, so I'm "off the hook" to have to pick one out. We did finally have a cold front come through last night...it was so nice to go outside and think, "wow, it's cold (at 68)." I did trim part of an overgrown bush this morning...will finish it tomorrow morning. Hmm, maybe I do have "fall" projects.

I have 3 blankets that I need to finish crocheting one is queen sized and about 75% done the second one is a large throw that I been making granny squares for and is about 60% done and the third one is a large throw that is about half way done. So hopefully I can finish all three by the time spring gets here.

Sounds nice Kimer, I have never sewn denim before so hope it goes well,, had to giggle at your comment of boys are tough on things,,, I had wondered what you do in FL for winter it's a whole different way of thinking in different parts of the US when it comes to what winter means.. Crankyfuzz I am with you am getting an itch to get into finishing some stuff that has been waitting,, Have 3 quilt tops I did during the blizzards of 06-07 I like quilting during the winter more then in the summer so maybe it's just time to pull them out and get them done...

Getting the cold fronts coming in , had our first snow fall,, been busy with the tractor getting the property and the buildings winterized and supplies hauled in.. Still got a load of wood to get and one more load of hay then I can just sit still until spring.... lol...

I had some needles for hand stitching that are used for leather,, they have a name but I can't remember in the moment... they really sharp and super sturdy something like that would just slip right through the denim easily,,, I will try to remember what they call them..

    Thumbs up yeah

yeah I remembered lol.. hate it when you can almost taste a word on the tip of your tongue but you just can't spit it out. lol lol

    Glover's needles

yes we will have to share . the last quilt (more a coverlet type) I did was a king size cathedral window also laying out a around the world color pattern in it. so lucky I am not blind or for ever crossed eyed in doing such a silly thing (what was I thinking ) lol lol ... I was so fascinated at the construction to want to do one... Everyone that sees it wants one but when I say how much I would charge ((( )))) it's a huge relief to me that they don't want to spend that type of money ..

    hope those needles help..

I crochet a lot and tend to give them away as presents to people for different occasions. However I have had a few people ask about how much it would cost to have me make them a specific blanket. Typically when you tell them the cost of materials alone they think it is overpriced. I have never figured out how much labor goes into one and the pattern makes a huge difference too. I do it because I enjoy doing it and it gives my hands something to do.

CF I agree I enjoying haveing a craft that I can design especially for an individual friend/family member that has alot of feeling for me while making it ... It's an on going saga trying to explain it to my hubby who supports my habits and fetishes of fabric and beads,,, that the numbers don't add up like you said for the cost of materials not even counting the time put into making it for selling what you make.... Walmart or target is a better choice price wise... if you want something.. Even I cringe at the end value,, when I add it up and think It be hard for me to want to spend that money to buy it too... lol lol... Couldn't live without doing crafts poor Tim it will never end lol lol... Thank goodness I'm so cute and perfect
