    Default Sound Familiar???

Fort Hood massacre, Orlando shooting, poor little Somer Thompson, 11 bodies in Cleveland, unemployment, H1N1, and on and on............

From Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire":

    Birth Control
    Ho Chi Minh
    Richard Nixon back again
    Moonshot
    Woodstock
    Watergate
    Punk Rock
    Begin
    Reagan
    Palestine
    Terror on the airline
    Ayatollah's in Iran
    Russians in Afghanistan
    Wheel Of Fortune
    Sally Ride
    Heavy Metal
    Suicide
    Foreign debts
    Homeless vets
    AIDS
    Crack
    Bernie Goetz
    Hypodermics on the shores
    China's under martial law
    Rock and Roller
    Cola Wars
    I can't take it anymore

    We didn't start the fire
It was always burning since the world's been turning
    We didn't start the fire
No we didn't light it but we tried to fight it

These are tough times, but if you live long enough, it's just deja vu all over again.

Amen on that Rocket! I was not at all surprised about the shooting today. Moneky see monkey do. I knew some other nutcase would jump in. I wouldn't be surprised if in other state tomorrow it happens again. The guy today sounds just like my ex SIL. Scary that!

So true, & as always a powerful song- kind of scary when it is all true and coming back again...- What a message...
& I am still speechless over the recent events- We are still waiting to hear of all the soldiers- Ft Bragg soldiers were all accounted for though- still a few we'd like to hear about though...

I suspect the fall-out from this is going to be HUGE! The Army looks incompetent, the public is confused, and the poor grunts are left scratching their heads thinking, "If I can't trust a commissioned officer, and a doctor to boot, who CAN I trust?"

I can see patriotic, decent Muslin soldiers getting their asses kicked on a regular basis, just for good measure, and the brass powerless to stop it. And, yes, there are Muslims in this country, and in our military, who are appalled by this man's cowardly actions.

On the other hand, today is the 20th anniversay of the fall of the Berlin Wall. As someone who grew up during the Cold War, and thought I'd never see this, it does foster hope.

Ft Bragg is cracking down even harder right now since the incident and I hate to say, yes, we may see some racist attacks happen w/in our own men & women... Such a shame- But it is hitting real close to home and no one is feeling safe no matter where they go...
I haven't watched any recent reports but I want to know this man's motivation- He is alive and I know they will be asking him many questions...
I hope our people ban together and when I see "our people" I am speaking of all Americans- but yeah, especially the military... They have to be able to trust each other, this is not helping I am sure.
I don't know if there is any connection to the Major's religious beliefs or not- I don't want to speculate... I hope well, in best of hopes anyway since the deed is done, is that it had nothing to do with his religion or his name and he just cracked under pressure...
Well, not to start this up in here- My heart goes out to the soldiers and their families right now...

I was in the military for 20 years, and for the last 15 or so, the anti-Muslim sentiment has been getting more and more rampant.

Hey - not for nothing - I lost 5 friends in a terrorist attack, but emotion is a killer in battle. You HAVE to divorce yourself from your raw emotions, or they'll eat you alive.

As we all saw last week.
