Default Flavoring's, finally found a good one!

I got my first order of capella's today. I ordered double chocolate, amaretto, French toast, ad caramel. I also ordered graham cracker but it backordered! Drat, it was the one I most wanted!

I made some flavors for my cartomizers. S'mores..French toast (instead of graham) Double Choco and afew drops of Lorann's marshmallow. very passable! It will be better once the graham gets here.
I have dark Chocolate cartos..but no refill liquid yet..so the double choco will have to do.
Finally a decent caramel! All the others I have tried tasted too chemical. This was fine for me.
Amaretto..while wonderful in my coffee (3 drops in a big mug) I am a bit hesitant to vape. Don't know why..I love the scent of amaretto. And since that is all vaping is..scent rather then "Taste", I should be fine..we'll see when I screw up my courage!
To all of these flavors I added P.G. and a few drops of Glycerin as well as 10 drops of 36mg to a 5 ml bottle. 10 drops is 1/2 a ml. I think. I am too lazy to figure out what my nic level is in a 5ml bottle. To me it is the same as waving vermouth over gin and calling it a very, very dry martini!

Has anyone else tried the capella's?

I haven't tried capella's yet, but plan to one of these days. I use Lorann's flavoring, but only because I have a cake decorating store locally that stocks all of the Lorann flavorings.. so I like not having to pay shipping. My favorite is Keoke Coffee.. and I vape that most of the time. I bought almost all coffee (and coffee related) cartomizers from V4L.. I have such a hard time trying new flavors.. I just love my coffee!

Im just getting into mixing myself and please excuse me if I mistakenly overlooked this if the answer is in ur post, but for a 5ml bottle you made, how many drops of flavors do u generally use? I tried the mixing calculaters but it left me confused

Maybe a real world, non equated answer will help me better

I can figure out the amnt of nic and PG to use but getting the flavor just right is where I have issues

    Thanks in advance!

Hi Crashtest Not sure if this will help, but (below) was Kate's recipe that I used when first starting DIY. I found I wasn't that fond of glycerine (2 sweet & 2 thick for me) so I use all PG instead, so I dropped the distilled water in the recipe, since the PG is thinner. The flavoring can get kind of tricky, since some flavors are stronger than others, and you will need less. I start out with the least amount, then add another drop or two at a time, then taste test until I like the flavor.

    Kate's Recipe

    10% distilled water
    10 - 20% LorAnn candy flavouring
    20% 36mg commercial eliquid
    30% glycerine BP/USP/food grade
    30% propylene glycol BP/USP/food grade

That makes a 7mg/low nicotine liquid. You can use 60% glycerine instead of using pg or the other way around, use 60% pg and no glycerine. Adjust flavourings, nicotine and water to suit your tastes and make it a decent consistency for wicking onto the atomiser. If it's too thick it won't wick out of cartridges, if it's too thin it will seep out too quickly.

Iv'e never tried cappellas, I would start with 10% flavor try it, if its not where you want then add a drop and try it, rinse and repeat until you get the juice to taste how you want it. Since everyones taste buds are different, this method works for everyone

Some where I have Kate's recipe in drops..I will look for it!

Since I was only making a 5ml bottle..I figured DIYing by the seat of my pants couldn't hurt. So I put 8 to 10 drops of Capella's 10 drops of 36 nic and 5 drops of Glycerine...filled the rest to the top with P.G.

For those keeping track that's 1 and 1/2 ml's of "stuff' to 3 and 1/2 to 4ml's of P.G. I only added like 3 drops or so of marshmallow in the Lorann's because it is major strong..compared to the capella.

Keep your testers very small..from a 3 ml to 5 ml so if you mess up..oh well! I don't add the Nic until the smell and taste is right..why waste it?

If you try DIY.. first shake up the flavoring!!!! It separates.

There are lots of great shops with DIY stuff on ECF..spend some time looking at the sites and get a few hints from the pros. Also stalk the DIY forums o0n this board. Lots of very very creative people in there. They even found a way to recreate tobacco flavors using..the very same stuff cigarette makers use to make their products taste good! (well as good as analogs ever get!)

Thanks for asking! I'm in the same place. I have a DIY kit and a bunch of Lorann, Capella and fairies flavorings, and I'm too afraid to use them. I'm horrible at math and that spreadsheet just scares me!

What's a simple way to start?

I've only experimented a little bit, but stopped because I knew I wasn't getting the correct ratios.

So, I've been reading, reading, and reading some more, but feel dizzy with info overload.

Those charts are ingenious, but I too, find them confusing.

But, my persistence will overcome my resistance, and I will get it.
