How to Use ECF Forum

Posted by: smokeyadmin    Tags:      Posted date:  August 12, 2012  |  No comment

If you are new to ECF you may well be surprised at the vast number of different forum areas.

One thing is clear – despite all having been hooked on one form or another of tobacco smoking, when it comes to vaping our members have greatly different needs and interests. The forum’s organization reflects this fact, and we have made great efforts to set it up in such a way that it is intuitive as to where specific information is posted.

In order to navigate your way around the forum, we have a number of useful tools which we highly recommend you use.

The first thing to be aware of is your User CP (control panel – found by clicking ‘settings’ from the top of the forum). This is the central repository for your account information, private messages to other members, social groups and, perhaps most importantly, your ‘subscriptions’. Subscriptions allow you to keep track of your posting activity on the forum, or to follow particular discussions in which you have not posted.

Subscriptions are particularly important since moderators frequently move threads from one forum to another to ensure that subject matter is kept in the appropriate forums. There is no message to tell you that this has happened, but your subscription will automatically be updated – so if you are looking for a thread in a forum but it’s not there, it may well have been moved elsewhere. The best practice, then, is if you find a thread that you think you’ll want to look at again, subscribe! If you start a thread, you’ll automatically be subscribed to it, and you can manage all your subscriptions from the User CP.
