Building Kayfun Lite Nano - Cotton Nest PT3

Next we Very Carefully install the Chimney tube. Avoid shifting the wick. A tiny bit of twist will not hurt, but you do not want to be poking around trying to reposition things.
Take one last look and tighten the tuck if needed then install the tube.

Next we add the Nest
Take your second piece of Cotton strip (Removing a tiny layer may be helpful) and roll in palms like the first.
Shape this rolled piece around the inside of the chimney tube - like a ring and clip off excess length.

Next - Saturate cotton ring and wick well.(8-10 drops should do)
Gently press the saturated cotton ring down against the upper deck Post and Coiled wick.

If everything went according to plan it is time to assemble your Tank/Top cap/drip tip and Fill.

* Notes:
1) Never assume number of days a wick should last - learn instead, the number of tank fills. This is more consistent.
2) Always leave a bubble of Air when filling - this establishes negative pressure.
3) If fill flooding occurs - Remove drip tip, place napkin/tissue over cap opening, hole upside down, blow through side air hole to clear.
4) When wick needs replacing - Rinse wick under faucet and while twisting one end lightly pull from coil. Coil should out last many wicks. Dry Burn coil then re-wick.

Happy vaping!

This "nest" idea is a new one for me... but the next time I break this thing down, I'm trying it!

I like how you arrange the main wick before you ever put the chimney on, very different technique than what I got from Busardo's video where he brings the ends up and then puts on the chimney, which to me always seems to result in an extremely "wadded" wick. I'll definitely be trying your way.

Thx!

Ok, I've now been using this "nest" technique for 2 wks, because it's absolutely brilliant. I won't say it's *impossible* to get dry hits, I might if I use too much wick (still a little hit or miss on that), but with the right amount of wick thru the coil, this technique seems unbeatable -- amazing! Thank you so much!

The "nest" idea is new to me as well, but I am certainly intrigued! I will be trying it out on my next build. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for this blog tutorial. I've not tried the "nest" yet, but will on my next wick change.

I just tried your method and it seems to be working pretty well. Its a little tighter of a draw than I likem but I'll attribute that to the Japanese cotton that I'm using. Seems to be much thicker than standard cotton balls.

Also I should add, this does seem to diminish some of whistling from the air hole...

Great tip with the nesting! Have to redo some wicking today and will be giving this method a shot! Thanks for a great tutorial.

I have tried this on 2 of my Kayfuns and have litterally fogged up my house trying to get a dry hit...not happening! LOVE IT! Funny though I haven't been able to find anything like this anywhere else..even on Youtube except with silica. You should really post a video.

wicking remains the biggest challenge from build to build for me with my R91.. thanks for the Blog... going to give this my next effort!

built it, wicked wit with this extra donut at the top as described by crxess.. AWESOME!!

Thanks, crxess!!!!!

I have been MIA from these ECF boards for awhile. Had a lot of catching up to do. Last week, I read mention of your "Nest" technique for the KayFun Lite.

Well, today, I decided to re-wicked one of my KFLs. I used your method with some Koga Japanese cotton. Thank you for affording me a deeper and richer flavor. Andromeda by Space Jam never tasted this good.

All I did was add the extra donut shaped piece on top and it has made a big difference.

I'm not going to over think it, but for whatever reason, I'm getting more vapor production from my current 1.4Ω/30 ga. micro coil, as well.

Again . . . Thank you for sharing your technique with the vaping community and enhancing my vaping experience.

Had a hot juice pop the first time I built this way, I didn't have enough wick so I did it again and the pop went away.

Thanks for the great info!
