EGO PCC Questions/Answers

EGO PCC (Personal Charging Case)
While searching for a few answers to my questions, I noticed several other people had questions too. I decided to share & include the findings here.

I purchased this little unit for the convenience. While I don’t consider it a must have, it is definitely still something to pick up if you’re away from a charger and want a sleek place to hold your eGo unit(s). It is a bit bulky for a pants pocket, but more suited for a jacket pocket or purse.

Some travellers love it and yet other reviewers aren’t impressed (mainly because it doesn’t have an indicator light when the battery is done charging). I have come to learn, by simply keeping an eye on the clock, it is easy to know when the battery is ready.

I have a case made by joyetech. Other branded units are either the same with the business name inside or a similar model (copycat). It typically comes with a usb cord and fitted 10ml bottle. It would be a good idea to pick up a 5V wall charger adapter, which is not included.

I have attempted to use reputable sources, personal experience & the product manual for reference, please always use caution and contact the supplier when in doubt. Feel free to send me a note if something should be included or updated. I hope this is a little helpful. Good luck & have fun with your PCC :)

Charging the PCC

Plug in the PCC Unit to a power source (I really recommend a wall charge & to never leave anything unattended while charging).

RED led light indicates it is CHARGING

GREEN led light indicates it is READY

What type of internal battery is in the unit? 2000 mAH Lithium-ion

How many recharge cycles will the case take in total? Unknown

How long does it take to charge? 5 hours (according to the manual). Using a wall charger adapter, I would say closer to 6 hours, depending on “how dead” the battery is.

Can I charge it before the battery dies? Yes,Absolutely.

How long does the PCC keep a charge? 10 hours (according to manual).

Why did the RED led appear on the PCC? The unit runs at 3.7 v when charged, when the battery decreases to 3.3v, the RED led will appear indicating it needs a charge. If there is an eGo battery inside, it will stop charging it. Remove the eGo battery and charge the case.

Can I overcharge the PCC? It was mentioned in a thread, the PCC would stop the supply of power once it is charged.Although, I can’t find any mention of the PCC circuitry, online or in the basic manual.

Charging Your eGo Battery in PCC

Make sure the battery post is clean & dry
Screw battery into PCC
Battery light will flash to indicate it will start charging

What type of batteries will it charge? EGO type batteries (I don’t know for certain about other types of batteries with a 510 thread, but it could damage the battery if it is different than the one specified). The manual suggests the PCC will charge a 900 mAH twice and a 650 mAH three times. You can charge a 1000 mAH once & a smaller battery.

How long does it take to charge a battery?
It takes about 3 hours to charge one 650 mAH & 4 or 5 hours for the 900 mAH.

How will I know when the battery is charged? There is NO indicator light on the PCC, so you will need to watch the length of time. It is not known if there is protection in the PCC circuitry to prevent an overcharge. If the battery itself has this feature built in, then it should cut off, if not, be warned the battery may be damaged. I tried a 900 mAH battery in the unit and left it longer than required, the charge did cut off.

Can I charge a battery in the PCC while it is charging? I have read somewhere that it can be done, but it is NOT recommended because it will stress out the PCC battery.

Other PCC INFO

My battery light doesn’t blink when I screw it in? The PCC and/or battery probably require a cleaning. As per the manual, use cotton & alcohol to remove any debris on the post.

My refill bottle is cracked?
Contact the supplier and/or Google EGO PCC refill bottles. I have read there were issues with earlier bottles, but they have been corrected.

Where can I find the manual? There should be one in the box, if not contact the supplier or do a search online. I would link one here, but links & websites are ever evolving.

Will it hold assembled eGo units? Yes, but the tip will stick out of the end on a 900mAH battery. I don’t recommend an assembled 1000mAH twist, as the battery is almost as long as the case, but the battery itself will fit in the case.

Are there any Youtube Reviews? There are several PCC reviews; I have only linked two for interest’s sake.
