Ohms is only a small part of the equation. My wife is currently using a 0.5 ohm Subtank head @ 14 watts with airflow choked down for a M2L hit and I'm using a modified dual coil 1.3 ohm Subtank head @ 45 watts for lung hits that throws clouds. Subohm means squat compared to surface area and many here seem to paint it as a hard line between hardcore idiots that are going to blow their faces up and carebear pansies that must only drink non-alcoholic beer. We need to stop using ohms altogether as a gauge of how a person vapes.

If you could figure in the temperature/surface area/airflow to offset temp I'd guarantee everyone here is FAR closer to each other than they think. After that it's simply the quantity of vapor that people differ in opinion. eliquid has a fairly narrow temperature that it will create it's best flavor at. If you increase the temp via subohming or cranking up the watts on your Sigelei you need to increase the surface area and airflow to compensate and that's before you have to figure in the increased wicking to feed that larger surface area. This is the huge upside to the next step into temp control vs ohms/watts/volts but still leaves the factor of airflow mass and how it hits the coils to the user. (Turn an RDA cap so the air doesn't hit the coils directly and you'll understand that bit about air direction in addition to quantity.) If you're running tiny old school coils you have far less surface area and you don't need or want all that power as it just throws the flavor out the window.

Maybe look at it this way: horsepower. The hardcore subohmer/mech/high wattage reg user is driving a semi. The 2 ohm mouth to lung protank/ego user is riding a scooter. The scooter driver is screaming at the semi driver that he doesn't need that much horsepower/torque and he's a menace to drivers out there. The semi driver is laughing at the scooter rider about his measly 25hp wondering how he even moves. While both are going 55 down the highway just fine but moving different masses.

To the old school style vaper: The "subohmer" isn't vaping @ 1000 degrees. It's a trend that started around late '12 to early '13 that matured quickly as vapers fine tuned the equation and new hardware appeared to provide the necessary airflow and power to maintain the equation. Only the mass is different from yours. (think more of them hitting 4 egos at once, same flavor and temp, just more of it.) The majority of their community is hardcore about battery safety and are quite vehement about others in the circle practicing safe battery usage.

To the high volume vaper: Mr. Old School is getting just as good of flavor as you and often a harder throat hit due to his higher nicotine. Don't be the Dbag at the bar that harasses the guy in the corner for sipping his drink. In reality he's sipping everclear while you're guzzling watered down beer. Now who's hardcore?

I'm purposely avoiding the "cool" factor of huge plumes of vapor because,
A. This is based deeply in emotion and emotion breaks math and logic. This is akin to the tattoo ordeal.
B. I don't think a single vaper reading this wants kids or other impressionables that don't smoke to want to vape. Do you want your kids to see someone pound shots in the bar and black out in a puddle of their own puke? Neither do I. Don't get me wrong, there's something very satisfying about kicking out a cloud that makes you blind for a few seconds, but let's tone it down in front of the kiddies OK? I always tell my kids I smoked because I was stupid, but I vape because I want to see them grow up and have kids of their own. And this is the real reason we're all here isn't it? If you are here after never using tobacco via chewing, cigs, or cigars, then I'm sorry, but you are an idiot and another poster boy for anti vaping zealots to use as ammunition against us ex-smokers trying to save our own lives.

TLDR: We aren't that different, really.
