Thought this was a cool post on reddit

Tomorrow's my five month vape-iversary... I wanted to share a heartfelt thanks and a few tips I've picked up along the way (self.electronic_cigarette)

First and foremost, thank you thank you thank you and thank you some more to every single person in this subreddit. You've brought my blood pressure down to normal levels, helped me avoid the annual winter bronchitis, and most importantly, given me the knowledge and encouragement necessary to kick a twelve year habit in the ....
Secondly, I wanted to share a few things I've picked up over the past few months.
Some tips (feel free to chime in with your own!):

  • Know when and where you can and cannot (or should not... just because something isn't banned doesn't mean you shouldn't be polite...) vape in public. Unsure? ask an employee who appears to have their wits about them if it's alright if you use your nicotine inhaler. "ecig" sounds like cigarette, and you're more likely to be told smoking isn't allowed. "Vaporizer" unfortunately sounds like you're trying to smoke weed, and will also be more likely to get you turned down.
  • Even if it's not summer, don't leave your PV in the car. You'd be surprised how warm a car can get even in the winter if it's a sunny day. If I know I'm going somewhere that won't let me bring my PV through the front door, I bring a small cooler with some ice in it, and leave my vape in the cooler. Nothing is worse or messier than juice that overheats and leaks out all over your car.
  • I mentioned this before, but be considerate of others around you, even if they're wrong. Explain things to them once, but if they don't want to hear it, don't be pushy. Suck it up, it just bothers some folks no matter what you tell them. Remember, you can always go vape in the bathroom if you're careful about it, and then giggle to yourself about how annoyed they are by something they can't even detect.
  • If you have questions or are confused about something ask this sub! Everyone's friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and encouraging.
  • If you're trying to quit smoking, but you're having trouble giving up cigarettes completely, don't beat up on yourself. Think about how long you've smoked versus how long you've been vaping. Some folks can kick the cigarettes in one day once they get set up with a decent vape, but others still have to wean themselves off smoking over time.
  • As far as gear is concerned, as soon as you're confident that you're not going to give up vaping entirely or at least that you're going to stick with it for awhile, buy something nice. Get an iTaste MVP, a Vamo, something that's half treat yo'self and half sensible investment. For that matter, if you have the financial means and want to start vaping, get something nice to start with, because you'll probably end up buying something more expensive in the not too distant future anyhow.
  • If you know the answer to someone's question, chime in. If you have something someone needs, pay it forward.
  • If you know someone who smokes and you can avoid being pushy about it, offer to let them borrow some basic gear from you. I've gotten at least three people to completely quit by letting them try/borrow my stuff.
