my brain is resistant to understanding resistance and variable voltage... help a fellow vaper?

i have seen the charts... i have read a lot of posts here in the forum. i am only about 5 weeks into vaping and i love love love it... i am going to be getting my ego twist battery in a couple days... i am ordering new coil heads for my T3S and also looking to purchase a tumbler, maybe some other tank set up. i want to get coil heads with the correct resistance.

(dumb it down if you have to, i thought i had got an understanding of this but, im not sure now)
2. when/why i would use LR coil heads.
3. when/why i would use SR coil heads.
4. how do i know if my ego battery is regulated?
5. is there a better choice in resistance for my standard ego 900mah battery?
6. can you shed a little light on when to or not to use dual coils as well?

The best way I have ever found to explain the electrical theory of resistance, voltage, and current is with the water hose analogy.

Think of your wire/coil like a water hose. The water itself is the current, and the pressure is the voltage.
The smaller the diameter of the wire/hose the more "resistant" it is meaning that the voltage/pressure has to go up to keep the same amount of water flowing through it.

So if you have been using a 1.8 ohm coil and move to a 2.4 ohm coil (smaller hose), what needs to happen to the pressure(voltage) to keep the same amount of current (water) flowing through it? It needs to go up. Of course if you are using a fixed voltage battery raising or lowering the resistance will change the amount of current that is flowing through it since the voltage/pressure is the same.

The difference between fixed and variable voltage is basically the difference between having a faucet with on and off only, or having one that you can adjust the flow/pressure to get the right amount of through put.

For points 2 & 3 it is really just a matter of personal preference and probably makes a bigger difference when using a fixed voltage device as this is the only way to change the amount of current(water) that is flowing.

4. All ego batteries are regulated. There might some really cheap knockoff out there that isn't, but I have not seen one.

5. Is totally personal preference. See 2 & 3 for why.

6. I don't use use dual coils.

One more thing to note: when dealing with gauges, the AWG number is a REVERSE measurement. So the larger the gauge the smaller the diameter of the wire and the higher the resistance.

Think of it like this:
G = Gauge, R = Resistance, D = Diameter of the wire, ^ = up, and v = down

G^ = R^ = Dv
Gv = Rv = D^
