Well this week I looked at the results of the little market research I did about my first mod.
With this information I dismantled my mod and rebuilt it closer to the majority ideas that came from the feedback as much as I could.
The battery connector is now central on the top, the led is now blue and on the button face, the on/off switch has been moved to a recessed section on one side and finally the charger circuit is in the same place but now connects to the world via a mini USB connector rather than the full sized one it has before.
I will post pictures or a video soon showing the new layout - but it looks a little rough as I had to use filler on the case to get it right s I did not want to use a new case rather modified the prototype.
I have now found a cheaper supplier for the charging circuits I think and also for the mini USB connectors.
I have also decided to build a range of sizes and specifications of box mod, this original case being the biggest but also using a 3AA battery box for a mid sized unit with 14500 batteries, a 2AA box with single 14500, and possibly a 1AA battery box using a cr123.
I could possibly also vary the battery layouts in any of the boxes to allow for different specifications quite easily.
Additionally there is a reasonably small variable voltage circuit available from china and a voltage regulator - neither of which are too expensive or difficult to install although they might require a heat sink in smaller form boxes.
So all in all a busy week of research as far as electronics go and sourcing parts.
Since I have limited funds it will take me a while to get any sort of builds going as I can only buy components in very limited number each fortnight.
I am also still going to tinker with designing and building a genesis tankomizer - I know what I need to do for this I just need to source one part for it and then build a prototype.
