So, I was waiting to do this review... and I'll explain why through this review.
I want to note that this is my first RTA, but not my first RBA (I got an Igo-W first).
I clearly had not taken much thought into how big this tank was going to be in real life. I saw videos of it with batteries that I do not own.
This tank... is HUGE - Obviously, with a 5ml capacity. I took this out of the box and had to gawk at the monstrosity I had bought.
With the Igo-W drip-tip this tank is simple 1-2cms shorter than the MVP (minus where the tank screws on)!
I was surprised to find a pre-built coil on it. Placed it on the MVP, it comes stock with a 1.2ohm single-coil.
I loaded it up ALL THE WAY with juice.
Big mistake.
Something in this went terribly wrong for me because the vapor production was just pathetic. (BUT THE FLAVOR IS AMAZING)
I got through the juice, built dual coils on it. 2.2ohms. Filled it up. Another mistake.
Vapor production still way too low.
Now, I want to note that I must have done something wrong somewhere. There's no explanation or the vapor production being so low (the second time around, I may have stuffed it with too much cotton, but that shouldn't have been the problem with the stock coil).
None-the-less, I was a little let down. I was expecting something at least akin to the Aerotank. Having to finish 5ml of juice with vapor production that's not the dense mouthful I have become accustomed to had this tank sitting in the cupboard and I was continuing to grab for the Aerotank.
So, I went to Youtube, looked up builds for vapor production. Pulled up RiP Tripper's double-barrel Kayfun build and thought... it's simple enough, maybe the little things he notes in the video is where I went wrong and why the vapor production is bad.
It took me four damned tries. FOUR.
I used a different gauge needle (14ga), and ended up using 32ga kanthal the fourth time (I dunno why I did this... maybe I was getting mad at the 30ga kanthal), with 15 wraps instead of 10 because his ohms were WAY TOO LOW for my taste.
Well, I got it on the MVP, read out to 2.3ohms, exactly where I wanted it. Everything seemed to be heating up correctly, no shorts (which was the problem with the first 3). Decided not to screw with it besides just doing the basic dry-burn...
threw some cotton in there, primed it...
and VWALA.
SO MUCH VAPOR.
I'm so happy.
And now, for the breakdown:
Pros:
- Airflow Control
- Huge Capacity (5ml)
- GREAT FLAVOR
- Rebuildable (and easy to build)
- Airy Draw
Cons:
- Airflow Control on the bottom of the base, which is blocked by 510 base/connector (I don't care because I'm just going to set it and leave it like that)
- PBusardo did note that the edges of the base (top part of the base, were the AFC is) can be sharp. Haven't gotten cut by it, but it's something to note.
- If it takes you awhile to get the coils right, it's going to be a pain in the a** finishing off 5ml of juice between switching coils (note: my suggestion is to prime the coil, then put the chimney on it, try it out, and if it is where you want, assemble the tank and fill ---- or you can remove the top... holding the pyrex tank in place, and draw the juice out with a syringe to not waste the juice....)
