Okay so the news...
Dr. Bernadi will NOT operate on me, it's not that he just does not recommend it, he flat out says it would the wrong thing to do. I have the following wrong with my back and I am repeating roughly what I was told, I will have the full report in my hands soon.
Spinal Canal Stenosis - Spinal canal stenosis results from the compression of nerve roots in the spinal canal and develops as a result of a combination of narrowing of the disc space, bulging of the disc into the spinal canal and degeneration of the facet joints. (I have all three plus more)
I have this for two reasons, I have yet another birth defect he found in the MRI. I was born with extremely narrow canals. I also have severe degeneration, my lumbar area is full of arthritis, a deformed exta vertebrae in my lumbar (I knew about this one) and four, count them four bulging discs. Three in the lumbar and one in the section above my lumbar (forgot name). He says normally they would suggest a fusion of the Lumbar and then the Lumbar to the above area where I am also affected. However, with my condition it would not help, but make it worse. This is the same thing my first Neurosurgeon told me, the whole two out of three options and two were bad thing. Well now it's a three out of three are not going to help and will make it worse. All they can recommend is I continue on with the path I am on now. Medication to deal with the pain, this is not going to get better, in fact it is going to get worse.
So now the nerve root compression I have due to blowing out disc L5 is explained even more. My pain makes perfect sense now and this is why it has increased. My spine is basically ....ed, what is good is falling apart at an extreme rate and the only way I will get surgery for this is:
The only absolute indication for surgical treatment is the development of significant nerve damage, sudden complete paralysis or progressive neurological deterioration (increasing weakness, loss of feeling or control of bladder or bowel function).
.....in other words, as a last resort.
So this should explain better the level of pain I have been dealing with, again not looking for sympathy, just explaining to those that wanted to know.
What about Bob..errr...I mean Chris the Cyst! Well he did not even show up on the MRI. Which is exactly what the radiology supervisor said, that it probably won't show up at all due to it's location. So now I have to go to General Surgeon and have it removed and a biopsy done. Which means, yep you guessed it, more waiting! So still no idea what it is, where it is, is it cancerous or not and oh yeah you have to get ready to just deal with the pain getting worse.
So how was your day?
Please no, poor poor John. I was born to deal with pain, I will handle it and now I truly know the what, where, why of the situation as far as that is concerned. I will handle this and learn to live with it, as I have always done. Like I said before, 13 years old and riding my bicycle to school with casts on both legs. Nothing stops me, it may slow my ... down some, but it won't ever ....ing stop me....for long at least, maybe a day or two
So my focus now is on my cyst, many phone calls tomorrow and resting the rest of the day now.
