These tests below only note my personal opinion for the ESTIMATED ratings for the batteries I tested at the time I tested them. Any battery that is not a genuine Samsung, Sony, Murata, LG, Panasonic, Molicel, or Sanyo can change at any time! This can be one of the hazards of using “rewrapped” or batteries from other manufacturers so carefully research any battery you are considering using before purchasing.

Misusing or mishandling lithium-ion batteries can pose a SERIOUS RISK of property damage, personal injury, or even death. Never use them outside of a fully protected battery pack and you use them at your own risk. Never exceed the battery’s true continuous discharge rating (CDR), never let it get colder than 0°C or hotter than 60°C, and keep the plastic wrap and top insulating ring in perfect condition. Never use a battery that is physically damaged in any way.

Testing batteries at their limits is dangerous and should never be attempted by anyone who has not thoroughly studied the dangers involved, understands the risks, has the proper equipment, and takes all appropriate safety precautions.

If the battery has only one current rating number, or if it only says "max", then I have to assume the battery is rated at that current level for any type of discharge, including continuous.




Test Results
The Molicel P28B is the best performing high power 18650 we can buy now. It performs essentially the same as the P28A at up to about 15A-20A but above that the P28B performs a little better. The P28B performs better than the P26A at all power levels, especially when above 20A. Not a huge difference but it will be noticeable in my opinion.

The P28B also runs up to several degrees cooler than the P26A at higher power levels.

The datasheet only lists a temperature-limited discharge current rating of 40A. According to the datasheet you can run the P28B at 40A but you must keep the cell temperature below 80°C. Since this cell reaches over 110°C when discharged continuously at 40A we cannot use that as a true continuous current rating.

For direct comparisons between cells I rate the P28B at 25A continuous/40A non-continuous (as long as you keep the cell below 80°C).

Molicel is not trying to fool us with their ratings. Their cells are rated for the applications they’re typically used for; electric vacuum cleaners, power tools, and other products that draw lots of power for short periods of time. Molicel’s datasheets are written for the engineers from their large commercial customers who know how these cells are rated.

The two cells I tested delivered 2746mAh and 2760mAh which is fantastic consistency. They easily met their 2650mAh minimum capacity rating but not their 2800mAh “typical” rating. I am rating them at 2700mAh since I cannot have the lowest capacity cells in the batch.

Bottom line…these are fantastic cells and I’m not at all worried about them being a little below the typical capacity rating.

Hello and welcome back for another review by yours truly. This time I will be taking a look at the new Voopoo H40 Pod Mod kit that was sent to me by Voopoo in order to provide you with a fair and honest review. The H40 has an internal batter rated at 1500mah with a maximum output of 40 watts. It offers adjustable airflow for a DTL vaping experience. Included in the kit is the new PNP II pod tank with a liquid capacity of 5ml for longer vaping time between refilling. The airflow is 360 degree stepless while rotating the pod. The H40 has a .56” OLED display screen and offers two output modes which are Smart and RBA. The mod is made of zinc alloy and has a leather facing while the pod is made of PCTG. Sounds pretty good on paper but let’s see how it performs.

INITIAL THOUGHTS:

The packaging for the H40 is pretty basic with the Voopoo and Drag H40 names on the two tone box face. It’s a little hard to see but there are three features listed under the Drag H40 name. The color version name is in smaller font near the lower left corner. The back of the box has the same two tone coloring with a list of the contents of the package and company information for Voopoo.

One side of the box has a nice color picture of the device inside the box along with an authenticity code, serial number, and a bar code with the color version name. The opposite side has a few icons with features listed below them. There is also a QR code you can scan with your phone to go to the Voopoo site. Mine has a sample sticker but yours won’t.

Once the outer shell is slid off then there is a black box sitting on top with the Voopoo and Drag names embossed on it. This box contains the user manual, charging cable, spare PNP coil, and a PNP Platform card. The H40 is compatible with PNP coils that operate within its 40 watt maximum output.

Once the black box is removed then you can see the Drag H40 with the PNP II pod already installed. Also the .45 ohm coil is pre-installed with a sticker covering the bottom as to prevent accidental firing prior to filling the PNP II pod tank. You can see in the third picture that there is a yellow tab on each end of the sticker covering the coil to make it easier to locate where to pull to remove the sticker.

The Drag H40 has a 1500mah battery capacity and has a stated charging rate of 1.5A/5V. I found this to be fairly accurate. I used my Klein USB tester and initially it was showing a rate of 1.12A/5.27V. I checked it intermittently while charging the H40 starting from a depleted battery and at some points it actually reached higher than the rated 1.5A. I was able to get well over 450 puffs on the counter before the battery was depleted. I was running the VM3 .45ohm coil at 28 watts which is well within the operating range of 25-35 watts. Much higher than that and the vapor was a little too warm for my tastes.

The Drag H40 is the newest member of the Drag Pod Mod family which includes 9 products including the H40 which are the Drag E60, Drag H80S, Drag S, Drag S PNP-X, Drag S Pro, Drag X, Drag X PNP-X, and Drag X Pro. The Drag H40 comes with the new upgraded PNP II Pod Tank and this tank will be adopted by the Drag E60 and the Drag H80S. I was told that the new CMF’s for the Drag E60 and Drag H80S were released on July 3 but as of right now I have personally not seen them yet. Like the H40, the new versions of the E60 and H80S will include the new upgraded PNP Pod II pod tank.

The Drag H40 has a body made of zinc alloy and is wrapped around most of the body with leather. It claims to be the smallest entry level pod mod. I honestly don’t know if that is the case or not. There are a lot of pod mods on the market. The Drag H40 has quite a bit of branding going on. There are the Voopoo and Gene AI names stamped on one side. The opposite side has the Drag H40 stamped into the leather in very large font. Honestly to me it really doesn’t matter as I don’t see it when it’s in my hand but some others might be a little more sensitive to the amount of branding on it.

The USB charging port for the H40 is located on the bottom of the mod so it will have to be laid down on its side while charging. This really makes no difference to me personally since tube mods are hard to keep standing up anyway while charging. As I had mentioned earlier, the charging rate is stated at 5V/1.5A which I found to be close to the actual rate so the mod should charge in about an hour maybe a little longer. Once again, mine was marked as a sample as you can see below.

The pod opening for the H40 is what I would describe as a cage system with a metal ring inside to give the three strong magnets something to attach to. It’s a little hard to see but there are three tabs protruding around the interior wall of the opening that lock into the notches in the base of the pod to allow the user to turn the pod while simultaneously adjusting the airflow. This system seems vaguely familiar and I’m almost sure I’ve seen it on another one of Voopoo’s pod mods but just can’t recall which one it was. The PNP coils are simply pushed in to seat. You can see in the third picture that there is a coil protruding and also can see the notches in the pod that I just mentioned that lock into the raised tabs to adjust the airflow. There is also of course the two spring loaded plated contacts that make connection with the bottom of the coils to apply power. This one does not have an airflow sensor in the opening as it is not an auto draw device.

The PNP II pod tank has a liquid capacity of 5ml. The opening for filling has one of the best rubber plugs that I’ve used. I like how it has a tab coming down to make it much easier to lift the plug for filling. Also the plug can easily be rotated out of the way for filling. This was well done in my opinion. The only thing that I didn’t like about filling was that the tip of my bottle hit the side of the coil when filling so I had to be careful to not fill it too quickly. Depending on the type of bottle used it might not be an issue. In the second picture below you can see that the drip tip for the pod tank is replaceable. It is a little different from your standard 510 tip as it has a lip around the base with writing on it that says PNP Pod II and Compatible with PNP coils. Kind of unnecessary branding in my opinion but I did find the drip tip quite comfortable to use.

The front of the H40 has a nice sized round fire button that works flawlessly followed by the .56” OLED display which comes with a clear sticker covering the display. I like to keep those on as long as possible to prevent scratching of the screen. Below the screen are the two adjustment buttons. The display shows a standard battery indicator on top. Going down, there is the Set Wattage, Mode of operation, Coil resistance, and Puff counter. The menu operation is as follows.

• Press the fire button 5X to turn the device on/off
• Press the fire button and the + button to lock/unlock
• Press the fire button 3X to switch the mode(Smart/RBA)
• Press the fire button and the – button to clear the puff counter

The H40 has several status notifications built in which one might expect on a device like this coming from Voopoo. They are as follows.

• Atomizer short
• Check atomizer
• Check battery
• Low power
• Low resistance
• Max Power
• Temp high
• Time out

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I feel like the Drag H40 is a welcome addition to the Drag series. It is a very small pod mod for a device with a 1500mah battery. It is small enough in size to be easily carried in a pocket. Of course it would be a good idea to lock the device before pocket carrying.

I started out testing the H40 with the PNP VM3 coil which is .45 ohms and has a rated wattage of 25-35 watts. I found my sweet spot while using a lemon cookie mix at 6mg at 28 watts. I prefer a restricted direct lung type of vaping and was easily able to attain this at the 28 watt setting with the airflow about 1/3 open. Much higher wattage than that and it was too warm and was forced to open the airflow more but that’s not the type of draw that I wanted from it. I know Voopoo is saying that these coils are rated for 35ml of use but I’m not sure what that comes out to in puff count since not everyone takes the same length of puffs. What I do know is that I was impressed with a puff count of a little over 750 and the coil was still working fine. However, I felt it was time I needed to switch over to the second coil so I could give it enough time testing.

Second up was the PNP TW30 coil which is .3 ohms and rated for 28-36 watts. It seems to me that it would have made more sense to include a higher ohm coil and the MTL drip tip so that one could test both styles of use. However, I tested what I was given. I was still enjoying the lemon cookie so stuck with it for this coil also. I found myself running on the higher side with this coil at 34 watts and the airflow still about half open. Both coils gave very good flavor and vapor production. One thing that I was truly surprised by after a total of over 1000 puffs between both coils, there was almost no condensation in the pod opening and had zero leaking the entire time I tested the H40. I happen to have several boxes of the .45 ohm coils on hand so plan on keeping the H40 in rotation for some time.

The new upgraded PNP Pod II tank performed wonderfully in my opinion. The 5ml liquid capacity is much appreciated on an RDL/DL pod mod. Since the H40 has a maximum output of 40 watts it isn’t compatible with the full line of PNP coils but there are some options available. I personally am very comfortable in the 25-40 watt range of vaping and thoroughly enjoyed testing the H40.

Quick question, i'll be visiting Perth, Western Australia in September. I'm well aware about the prescription to get nic juice rule. My question: is it legal to bring my boro devices (empty of course) through the airport? I did some research and already found a vape shop where they sell 0 nic juices and plan to get some there. Any help from Aussie veeps are greatly appreciated. Cheers!

As you can see I've started testing another pack, courtesy of my fellow vaper @Ispy. A total of 12 mixed selections will be tested, of which there are sure to be favourites - read the attached descriptions.
A seemingly simple apple pie will be the first offering, which may not be as simple as you might think. According to the manufacturer, this recipe took the longest to develop of the whole series. They spent more than a year trying to create the perfect baked apple flavor, and after dozens of mistakes, they've succeeded, they claim . Apple pie with no cinnamon, minimal sweetening. The aroma pleasantly reproduces the lifelike smell of the sweetness just out of the oven. On the inhale, you get the juicy taste of apples, and on the way out, you also get the distinctive baked cakey topping, which makes the steam seem to transform into the cakey honey. You can feel the sweetness on the apple, but with longer steaming, the refined acidity comes out. The cake part is definitely the distinctive pie flavour, just sweetened by a little baking. Don't even look for the cinnamon in it, it's omitted from this version, but it's not missing, somehow it's not the focus. For me, using DL, the soup seems a bit dry, but maybe that's just me being a tease, as I couldn't fault it for anything else, even if I really wanted to. In a word, with or without cinnamon, the apple pie flavour remains a perennial favourite, but one thing is for sure, you should definitely try this version if you're into dessert vapours.
