Yesterday we went to Cracker Barrel. That's about my favorite eat out. I had chicken pot pie which is my number one on their menu, plus a big plate of their fancied up hash browns. Being old I don't eat much and yesterday I scarfed back 2 or 3 times what I normally get through in a sitting. Paying for it a bit this morning but it's worth it.

Monday I spent 6 hours burning the huge brush pile from last summer. We only had one dry day in the forecast, 2 weeks of rain coming up. Top of the pile was brush which was pretty well dried out and ready to burn, the leaves fell to the bottom and they were still frozen. You aren't supposed to burn leaves here but I did it anyway. I was prying loose slabs of frozen leaves with a shovel and dumping them on top of the fire. They only partly burned so the pile is still smoking this morning if I poke it with a stick.

Last night I mixed some base and I'm almost out of PG and VG, so that's on my job list for today. And I'm down to the bottom of the bottle on most of my regular mixes. This time of year is expensive. House, vehicle and flood insurance all come up in Feb. Plus next week I have to pay $3K to be connected to city sewers and probably another few hundred to get the breaker box prepped to connect up the grinder pump.

That's a short summary of my life right now.

They took the tarp off. I kinda thought they'd leave it covered since we do have a chance of rain tomorrow. They do have plastic here and may be covering it by end of the day. Don't know.

G'morning folks,quick pop in to say hi.

Was supposed to get my Meson RTA delivered yesterday but nothing...and today its in transit and they refuse to deliver it.
They told me that ''maybe'' tomorow'' so yeah i am pretty mad but oh well,not much i can do.

From all the Spanish companies i could get to deliver it this is the worst,CTT Express...lousy.
Even had the nerve to tell me to go and pick it up in person to Alicante which is like 60 km away,so yeah sure 120km total for a package that should be delivered to my home.

OK Although I've just been bombing down the interstate, no pics. (Heck, from what I've seen so far this time, just turn on the shower!)

Left home about 8:30 Monday, takes about an hour to hit I5 just south of Olympia. Then it's haul assets south on the interstate. Goal for the first day is always to get south of the Siskiyou range (Mt Shasta), where I'm most likely to hit snow. So some ways south of Redding. Made it to Willows this time, a bit more than normal (usually I crap out around Corning, so I made it an extra hour this time, about 11 hours on the road.

Slept poorly last night, but that worked out well? On the road again by 6 AM, so got to Needles earlier than norm. About 11 hours. That was I5 south to CA 58, which cuts east to Bakersfield, when it joins US 40. Up over the Tehacipis and Cajon pass, over to Needles. And spend the night here.

Tomorrow, short day, only about another 200 miles to go US 40 over to Topock, AZ, then south on a couple State roads, to I10 and clear sailing to Phoenix. (Actually, Glendale, a major suburb indistinguishable unless you know where the signs are )

Yeah, I could do it in 2 days (well, once upon a time!), but I'd have to wake up my brother when I got there, and probably collapse on the doorstep!

Except they are on here to hold a huge gauze pad in place. Daphne had eye surgery 10 weeks ago. She got her cone off on Wednesday and went for a groom on Thursday. It was during this groom that a tumor was discovered, about half the size of my pointer finger. I think the groomer nicked it. Not her fault she did not know it was there. I should have known it was there. I was so wrapped up in the 10 weeks of 5 different drops in the eyes 6 times a day to help her keep her eye.
I saw the vet when I picked her up from the groom. She said it is def a tumor. She also said "Daphne is 14 and has a lifespan of 15-16 so just ignore it"
I had to stop and catch my breath after hearing that.
By the next morning it was bleeding. Two regular bandages held things together got a while. By that evening it was seriously bleeding and a giant wad of gauze had to be changed about every two hours.
Monday morning Daphne went to an Animal Hospital that I trust. Surgery is scheduled for tomorrow morning. They will remove it and off it will go to pathology while I wait for the report to come back. I am distraught. View attachment 992913 View attachment 992914

Shovels are here now to get that last snow off the tarp. It's probably frozen but there's not much of it.

Lumber off the truck and truck gone. Builders pick-up here now with his enclosed trailer on the back. Another worker or two came with the pick-up.
