Armour, a line that made its debut for Vaporesso around the end of 2023 returns in a new version called Armour Ultra Mod. Initially, you could only choose between a single and a dual battery; this new Ultra Mod entry instead allows to choose an integrated battery as well. Vaporesso Armour Ultra Mod sent free of charge by Sourcemore, with whom I have no professional relationship and do not receive money.



If usually these types of boxes are often with a capacity that barely approaches those of a single 18650 battery, the Vaporesso Armour Ultra Mod has a whopping 5500 mAh of capacity, close to a dual battery or a very high-capacity 21700 box. Along with it, like its ancestors, the Armour Ultra Mod, besides being shockproof, is also resistant to water (IP68 and IP69k) and dust.



Despite the truly generous battery capacity of 5500 mAh, the dimensions remain those of a single battery: 90.7 x 31 x 38 mm, while the weight is 171 grams, which, always keeping in mind that the battery is integrated, are in the average. Packaging that remains with the black and green colors, a Vaporesso trademark, with the Armour Ultra inside the box, USB Type-C cable, manual, and warranty.



The Armour Ultra cup has a raised ring to avoid sending the atomizer to the bottom, locking it or scratching the body. Standard 510 connection with a gold-plated spring-loaded pin, therefore possible to install any atomizer equipped with this connection.



On the side, the biggest difference with the previous Armour models. From the spartan and heavy-duty rubber coating, it moves to leather for the Armour Ultra Mod, much more elegant, it still offers an excellent grip thanks to the irregular embossed texture. Color and texture vary depending on the chosen color.



The bottom is flat, without narrowing or protrusions that undermine its stability despite the height. Engraved, at least in my tone-on-tone color. Absent vent holes to maintain the IP68 water protection.



Near the front side on the right side, the On / Off switch that allows to immediately lock or unlock ALL buttons, fire included. Without accessing the menu or turning off the Armour Ultra, it is therefore possible to lock the Ultra; however, I point out that the switch is not very "hard" and, for example, the friction against your leg while putting it in your pocket is enough to unlock it accidentally.



The display is a 0.96 inch TFT; the photo above was taken under very strong lighting but still remains a brightness in the average. The buttons, also water and dust proof, reflect the orange already used for all colors of the Armour line.



Lastly, also the USB Type-C port has its rubber protection, with the cap remaining secured to the body of the Armour Ultra. Present a USB Type-C cable with which to recharge the 5500 mAh of battery. The supported charge is 2A, if the charger allows it.



The circuit installed on the Armour Ultra is always the Axon Chip, the same, also for graphics, as the one used on the other Armours with something borrowed from the Gen line released at the end of 2024. Delivery from 5 to 100 w, increment of 1 watt per click. From 5 watts decreasing the wattage you go to 100 watts, so be careful to check always.

Aesthetically it is much more beautiful than its two ancestors, taking away a bit of that survival air and softening with the leather insert. At the "power" level, based on its 5500 mAh of battery, it can easily handle an atomizer up to 30-40 watts for the entire working day without delivery drops or misfires; based on how many ML of liquid are vaped, it also covers the whole day. In MTL, the covered days become almost two, perfect for a weekend away and having to bring only a USB Type-C cable if one charge is really not enough. I hope a dual and single version will arrive to renew the entire Armour line; with the dimensions, Vaporesso has truly done a miracle and on the market there are fewer and fewer water and shockproof boxes.
