I’m here again with another Geekvape review. This time I will be doing my best to review what is being called the Z RDA. I am slightly confused since the review sample I received has a label on the back that says ZEUS RDA. Either way it’s a new RDA from Geekvape that was sent to me for the purpose of providing a fair and honest review. Honestly I’m not a very big RDA user but will try my best to convey the features of this one and give my opinion and experience.

INITIAL THOUGHTS:

The review sample that I received was in a small black two part box with a label on the back that listed the contents. Included in the package besides the RDA was two bags with each containing two .4 ohm Ni80 fused Clapton coils and two cotton threads as well as a user manual, tri-tool, coiling rod, a low profile ultem drip tip and some extra o rings. What was not included and seemed very strange to me was there was not a squonk pin. That really surprised me. I don’t remember the last time I received an RDA without a squonk pin. As you can see in the picture above, it says BF Pin sold separately. What?

The RDA comes with a low profile 810 black drip tip installed with the o rings in the opening instead of on the tip. Below that is the airflow control ring which is held on by an o ring. It is in fact a top airflow RDA with two fairly large airflow slots that will allow for plenty of airflow. The control ring can be easily removed for cleaning. On the main body is the Zeus symbol stamped or engraved in the metal but is the same color as the RDA.

The airflow path on this one is a little different than what I’ve seen. The airflow holes you see on the outside are not seen on the inside. There’s an inner chamber wall that makes the airflow go down the sides and back under the coils. I think this was done to help avoid spitting and from what I have seen it is working. I haven’t had any spitting since I started using it.

The deck of the RDA is a two post/ four terminal set up. There is an opening under each post that is supposed to allow space for you to trim the coil legs but it’s a little tight and you have to have the right kind of smaller wire cutters to get in there to trim them. To me this is a dual coil RDA but I guess you could try to run it with one large single coil.

I used one set of the included Ni80 fused Clapton coils that came with it to test the RDA. It might have been nice if they had included one of those plastic coil measuring tools like I’ve received with other tanks in the past. I of course had one nearby and cut my coil legs at 5mm before inserting the coils into the deck. I probably could have gone down to a 4mm but it worked out ok. The cotton threads included were nice and tight in the coils and I was actually able to wick both coils with one thread since it was long enough. I combed out the wick tails quite a bit because the cotton thread was very dense and wanted to get good capillary action on the wicking. The bottom well is fairly deep so you can drip quite a bit of liquid into it. Also with the top airflow and inner chamber you don’t really have to worry too much about leaking. There are two o rings around the deck that make a very good seal and I could pick up my Legend 2 by the RDA and the cap did not budge. On the bottom side of the deck is the Geekvape Z printed and the other normal writing. Once I had the coils installed, my mod was reading .18 on the resistance. I was able to run the airflow about 1/3 open and got a really nice and flavorful vapor at 55 watts. I don’t like a really warm vapor so if you do then you will probably want to turn it up some.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

Like I mentioned in the beginning of the review, I don’t have a lot of experience with RDA’s but have tested a handful of them and one or two have stood out to me. The Geekvape Z RDA seems to be a really good one. I really like the unique looks of it and the ability to fully disassemble it for cleaning is a nice feature.

The gold plated 510 pin protrudes enough that it should be able to be used on hybrid mechanical mods. The base dimension is 25.5mm and should fit ok on most mods. I used it on my Legend 2 since there wasn’t a squonk pin included in the package.

I thought the build deck was easy enough to build on and I would recommend cutting the legs to length before inserting the coils since the space underneath may or may not allow you to get your cutters in there to trim the coil legs.

I never really care for the short drip tips that are included with some tanks and this was one of them. I almost immediately replaced the tip with my own.

So, would I recommend the Geekvape Z RDA for you? With the limited experience I have with RDA’s I would say that this is a good one and yes I would recommend it due to ease of use and the really good flavor it produced while I was testing it.

I have a cali G device that i have used for almost 1 year. Recently, i bought a new pack of 1.0ohm coils. When i put it in and tried firing, it seems to brick the whole device. Thereafter, whenever i press the fire button ,it flashes 3 times in red color and when i try to fire using the mouthpiece, it will flash red green blue. So i actually tried using back other coils that was working before that, now it shows the same colors error as the coil that seemingly spoilt it

Initially I thought it was my device dying, so i ordered a new cali g. Everything was working fine, so i tried using that coil again, end up it spoil my new device again. The same issue as above.



Is there even such possibility that a dud coil will spoil my caliburn g device?

FIRST IMPRESSIONS


Packaging was done very nice with a slide out tray having the ONNIX 2 resting in a form fitted cutout with all other kit contents in a box under the device. The ONNIX 2 comes with the 0.8Ω coil pre-installed.





When you pull the pod out of the device you will notice a sticker that covers the coil to prevent a accidental firing during the shipping process, as the sticker says peel it off, prime the coil with a couple drops of juice, reinstall the coil and fill the pod. The pod attaches as most do using 2 magnets that are strong, they actually pull the pod out of your fingers when attaching back on the device.





Filling to pod is done as most are by pulling the beefy plug out of the pod to reveal a very large fill port for your juice, I have a nit picking thing to say about it's location, I think it should have been positioned on the side of the pod for a little bit easier fill. Having the fill port in the position I mentioned would allow more air to escape when filling. Remember to fill slowly and on a angle when filling the 2ml pod and stop before overfilling.





Type-C 2A charging is located on the very bottom of the device which usually I dislike but I leave the ONNIX 2 on it's side anyway because it's a very thin device, when standing upright a bump of the desk usually sends it falling down so better safe than take a chance over and over of something happening to it from falls, it's tough because I have knocked it over many times before realizing it's better to lay it down. After many falls it still works like day 1.





I know very well and absolutely love Freemax coils because of the amazing flavor that they produce along with great coil life. The ONNIX 2 carry's the same positioning of the coil as the original ONNIX and that further intensifies the flavor of the coils. Having a clear pod detracts nothing from a device and I'm glad Freemax made the pod clear on the ONNIX 2, just look how close the coil is to the end of the pod mouthpiece, no heat is felt when vaping. This is one of the more comfortable duckbill mouthpieces because of the tapper of it from it's base to tip.





Having a small bore of the mouthpiece also adds to the many factors of why the ONNIX 2 puts out such great flavor. Being a MTL pod styled device you are not going to fill a room with vapor and that's another plus for the device, also it's not intended to do so.





Branding is located on both sides of the device and is tastefully done with FREEMAX on one side and ONNIX 2 on the other. The ONNIX 2 gets it's air supply from 2 small holes, each side of the device has a air feed small hole that is placed in a good location so a inadvertent blocking of such is highly unlikely.

I would have to classify the vape as a semi loose MTL, I prefer a tad bit tighter of a draw but found the intake of the draw worked out alright, I even tried the old trick or blocking one of the air inlet holes with a tiny piece of clear scotch tape and that really tightened up the draw but it was to tight for my liking so I ended up removing it and quickly got used to a bit more air intake on my inhale.

Freemax gave the user a choice of either a button activated draw or a auto draw feature and both work great, I'm a button guy but in using the ONNIX 2 I found myself preferring the auto draw because it fires immediately with pretty smooth airflow that didn't cut out on me in mid draw as many devices with that feature do. I'm assuming that Freemax didn't put adjustable airflow on the ONNIX 2 to keep the size thinner. Being made out of aluminum alloy really keeps the weight down to only 47.6 grams which makes it a shirt pocket carry device.








The ONNIX 2 has no wattage or voltage adjustment feature which means no buttons other than the fire/power button. There is no display screen as well but a series of lights located on on side of the device at the bottom.

There are 3 white lights that are your battery meter and light up when the device is activated or charging, 3 lights indicate 71-100%, 2 lights indicate 36-70% and 1 light indicates 0-35% battery capacity, below the 3 white lights is a blue light that illuminates when the device is activated or vaped.

During the charging process the 3 white lights breathe and as it gets more power a new light will illuminate.





There are many colors to choose from and being that blue is my favorite color I was very happy to have received the blue colored one for testing. On mine there is a crisscrossing pattern of lines at the top and bottom face and back of the device with diagonal lines in the center.

As light reflects off the device in the sunlight outdoors you sometimes get a shimmer of different colors reflecting off the device that makes it look even better than it does. I know it it really has no bearing on performance but the blue O-rings also add to it's appearance.





FINAL IMPESSIONS


Having used this over 10 days and continuing to use it I can say that I have had no performance issues with the device or the coils, the 0.8Ω coil is my preferred coil of the 2 because it gives more warmth than the 1.0Ω does, however the 1.0Ω coil tightens the airflow up a smidge more but isn't as warm.

When I took my first vape on the ONNIX 2 I new immediately that I was using a Freemax coil, flavor is intensified with the TEA FIBER COTTON and whatever other magic that Freemax uses to bring out the flavor notes in juice. There is 0 break in time with both coils.

I know Freemax wanted to keep the ONNIX 2 small but wish the pod capacity was larger because I have to fill it very frequently mostly because when using I hardly take it out of my hand, with flavor this good chain vaping becomes automatic.

Function wise it's performed flawlessly and will stay in use of my daily rotation of devices. So in closing do I think the Freemax ONNIX 2 deserves a recommendation, WHOLEHEARTEDLY YES I DO. I have been vaping a certain juice that has many flavor notes to it and it's a MTL juice with a nicotine content of 12% for many years and often try it in a pod device to see if it's flavor notes can come through and some do a good job as others fail, but the ONNIX 2 has brought out some new notes I never had before.

The Tea Fiber Cotton must be what's doing it for the flavor increase. I haven't dropped the device but have knocked it over a quite a few times and no issue has arisen so build quality must be good, feel like it is . Pick one up folks because it's a winner for sure.

Sourcemore really outdid themselves for this review, and sent me the Innoken Kroma-Z kit, the Kroma-Z 510 adapter, and the Innoken Zlide. So buckle up, we have a lot to unpack!



We’ll start with the kit, because it has everything you need to get vaping, except the juice.



In the box, you’ll find;

The Kroma-Z has a 3,000 mAh built-in battery and goes form 6-40 watts. It comes in black, grey, white, pink, midnight blue, and midnight green.



The fire button is integrated into the screen, which displays your wattage, ohms, puff count, and firing time , down to a tenth of a second.



Press Fire 3x to turn on and off



Hold + or – until wattage flashes, then you can adjust.



Hold + and – to access the menu. There, you can adjust how long the screen stays lit, and how long it’ll fire before cutting off.



Press Fire and + to access the secondary screen, where you can clear the puff count.



The charge port is on the front of the mod, so it stands up to charge. It’s built into the bottom end, so visually it blends in a bit. One small complaint is that while the screen and the faux leather grip are black, the bottom piece is more of a gunmetal. I wouldn’t have minded, or even noticed, probably, except that it can be seen from the front/back/sides when the mod is sitting. A small gripe, to be sure, but that’s a point off, imho.



The pod holds 4.5 mls, but the manual advises not to allow it to get less than half full. So those of you who drive on fumes, you’ve been warned.



The pod is held in with magnets. They are almost too strong, and that coupled with the shape seems to keep the pod in place very well.



The fill port is located on the back side of the pod, above the top of the mod. It sticks out a little. I have not yet accidentally opened it, but it does seem highly likely that could happen and I’ve just been lucky so far.



There is an air flow adjuster on the mod, and I’ve played with that, and both air flow rings. With the larger AF ring, I can go from a moderate MTL to a reasonable RDL. The smaller AF is way too tight for me – does anyone recall the old Vandy Vape Berserker? It’s like trying to drink an ice cream shake through a coffee stirrer. I won’t count that as a negative, although it’s not for me, because it’s not easy finding any vape that tight, and it might be just the ticket for someone. At any rate, it’s nice to have both options, as you may want to set it with the AF ring you think will work, and still adjust on the fly.



I had a little confusion when I looked into coils for the pod and the Zlide. Both are supposed to take any Z coils. I have a Zlide for which I’d bought Plex 3D coils some time ago, and apparently those Plex coils are still the same, they’ve just added a Z to the name. They may be different than the ones that came with the pod, but they are interchangeable.



The pod is a smokey color, but you can see the juice level, although you might need to hold it up to the light.



There’s not much to say about the Kroma-Z 510 adapter, except that it’s a brilliant add on for the kit. It’s a matte black and goes really well with the mod’s screen and faux leather grip. Like the pod, it has magnets that mean business. For the price (regularly $5.99, on sale for $4.59) it’s a no-brainer.



The Zlide Platform Series is a 2 ml tank, 22 mm wide. It also comes in a 4ml, 24 mm wide version, but I selected the smaller one to pair with the Kroma kit. I can confirm that the 24 mm will fit as well.

Like the name infers, the top slides to expose the fill hole. The drip tip must be removed to open it though, which does help keep it from accidentally opening, but I still find to be irritating. There is no membrane to seal the fill hole, which is another thing of which I am not fond, although it doesn’t seem to leak. So far, anyway. I’ll be honest and say my older Zlide never leaked, but it never got much use, either.



I got the tank in the black, and it goes perfectly with the 510 adapter and the mod. The finish is great, threading is smooth, everything seems well made and serviceable. The air flow adjusts from fairly tight to somewhat airy MTL. It never makes it to even a restricted DL. The flavor is moderate at best, and quite frankly the pod beats this tank on all accounts, except for looks. It’s not the worst I’ve had though, and considering how durable and inexpensive it is, I wouldn’t talk anyone out of it.



So in short, I really like the Kroma-Z kit all by itself. If that were all there was to it, I would be really happy with this kit. But add the 510 adapter and the ability to pair the mod with your favorite tank, and it’s a real winner.

General impressions:

Nice portable mod,size wise it is very close to a Colossal which makes it the perfect mod to carry around if you going out.

Quality of the mod and atomizer makes it seem like if it were a high end device.
The mod itself is well made and feel sturdy and confortable at the same time when you are holding it.
The atomizer feels heavy but not in a bad way,makes you feel like you have a well crafted and engineered atomizer in your hand.

I didn't use the MTL coil much because i don't do nic salts but it seemed to work perfectly.
I moved right away to the 0.3 ohm coil and i got a very good vape from it,keept it in the 30W range and had no problems with it.

About the FØ Mode,can't really comment on that since i didn't use such feature.
I am a simple vaper,put the atomizer set my wattage and i am ready to go.

Now to the Refresh Mode:
You can choose auto or extended (where you must hold the fire button).
I have tried it about 5 or 6 times,only on auto and on 3 occasions i did get some minor spitback...not sure if this is user error or not so can't comment more on this.

Lot of pros for this mod and atomizer,if you are into well built and designed pod apparatus this is for you.

Con wise i wont mention the slight spitback when using refresh for the coil (not sure if it's user error) but the battery cap...hmm the handle to turn it around to screw in and out just didn't do it for me.

Nothing wrong with the cap itself or the threading,the issue i had was with the handle to unscrew the cap.

Slight pressure and it goes down and then you need to pull it out again,other models with the same type of screw cap have some ''resistance'' to it,they stay in the upright position but in this case even if you sneeze the handle will go down and there you go,you need to pull it out again.

Not a big issue perse but it did annoy me a bit.

Would i recommend this combo of mod/atty?

Well this question has 2 answers...

If you are veteran vaper and like to fiddle around then yes this kit is for you,lots of customisation and features for you to play around with.

If you're new to vaping or you're a simple vaper like me i wouldn't really recommend it,for a new/simple vaper i would go with something like the Kroma Z or the Sceptre which are also products from Innokin.

Happy to be here and hope everyone has a great time vaping!

I have a an issue, I researched the web plus used the search function here but could not find much or anything helpful, so excuse me please if the topic was mentioned already.

In short my boxer squonkers are leaking at the 510 connector into the battery compartment. All of the boxer mod squonkers I have, like each model they made. I had one already fried because of this. I managed to get over the horrible quality of their colours and the black ones looking grey after a few months but this leaking thing is really irritating me. I tried different RDAs, all high quality ones. Using the original bottles also tried the Rebel vape ones. Filling it by taking the bottle out or use a refill bottle.

I attached a picture how my 75c looks like currently, you can see that the connector is just wet. This is the one I am using now and its nothing compared to the 250c where the bottle sits in a puddle of liquid after a day of use.

Do I need to adjust something or is there any advise? Also can someone recommend some alternative? (not rebel)

I thought I'd drop in and say hi. I joined about 9 years ago, quit smoking around 6-7 years ago (?), and eventually just fell out of touch.

Hi all, hope you are all well!

Haven't posted here for a while, but have just been using my Hohm Slice again recently and still love it- I really wish I'd picked up a G2 when they were on sale/ when Hohmtech stopped producing mods- at that point I was only really interested in single battery mods as was primarily MTL, but now have a huge collection of dual 18650 mods for DTL higher wattage and would dearly love to add a G2 to my collection!
