If you don't have a ohms reader for your coils this may suffice.... I took the data from the wraps and ohms in the first post by nerak for 28GA, 30GA and 32GA, graphed the data and came up with an equation for wraps vs. Ohms with my trusty ol' TI-84. It should do the job if you use a 1/16 bit or anything very similar to that. The reasoning behind that is the majority of the data came from wraps around 1/16 bits.


All you have to do is input for X:

Y = Ohms
X = Wraps (preferably 1/16)


28GA:

Y = (0.136789 * X) - 0.01


30GA:

Y = (0.1815789 * X) - 0.018


32GA:

Y = (0.25 * X) - 0.1 [yes, 0.1 not 0.01]


Also, what may be even more useful is to use the inverse of these equations to find how many wraps you need for a certain ohm rating. In other words, if you want 1.4 ohms you input 1.4 ohms as Y in the inverse equation to find the number of wraps, X.


Input for Y:

Y = Ohms
X = Wraps (preferably 1/16)


28GA:

X = (Y / 0.136789) + 0.01


30GA:

X = (Y / 0.1815789) + 0.018


32GA:

X = (Y / 0.25) + 0.1


(note: these equations have been tested for outliers and re-calculated for a more precise calculation, but, do not expect these equations to be a full time replacement for ohms readers.)
