My First two reads will be Aging Mechanisms in Li-ion Batteries and Degradation Mechanisms and Lifetime Prediction for Lithium- Ion Batteries – A Control Perspective
 
I have been looking for a safe way to bleed off some of the charge in an old battery.

Before I wrap it in cling wrap & toss it in the battery recycling bin.

Does anyone make anything that will do this safely?

Another idea is perhaps leaving it in a regulated mod,
until the screen no longer lights up.

Any thoughts on this?
