Ohm Meters...

Can a regular multimeter set to impedance mode be used to check the resistance of your atomizer? Is it absolutely necessary to buy one of these specialized ohm meters with 510 connectors on them? I have three multimeters here already... I don't want to buy another meter that only has one specialized purpose, if the three that I already have can do the same thing (and more).

You should be able to use what you already have.

You most certainly can use your multimeter. In fact, if you're rebuilding your own coils, it's highly recommended that you do use one.

The stands with builtin Ohm meter and 510 connector are really good when rebuilding RBAs.
Otherwise your old meters will do a perfect job until you get your first provari or so-...

Multi-meters will (quite literally) save your life and mod. I use my lavatube to measure ohms, though, because I can carry it in its case.

You can use a cheap multimeter to check your battery, cartos, atty, even your battery charger.

DMM's work fine and are more accurate, generally speaking. Those little carto/atomizer readers though are handy. I use mine a lot more than my DMM, and like a previous poster suggested, they make a nice platform to build you coils on. So, no you don't need one. Yes, they are nice to have. I also have the 510 voltmeter, and find it very useful as well.
