I stick to AW or Efest IMR batteries. The real problem is knowing that you are getting what you are paying for. There are more counterfeit batteries around than you would ever imagine. I buy my batteries from Super T Manufacturing simply because I know & trust them. Efest now has a list of vendors on their web site that buy directly from them. That was done because they can not ship direct anymore because of the new air freight ban on batteries. Batteries now come to the US on the 'slow boat' from China.
what about these Ultra Fire 18650 3.7V 5000mAH, found them and was wondering if anyone has used them or knows if they're good quality.
They are low end. Most of us avoid any batteries or chargers with the name Fire in them. Well worth safety and peace of mind to buy high quality batteries and charger. Low end chargers fail frequently and take a very long time to charge. Example- 18650 batt on a TR-001 charger= 6+ hrs. On a higher quality charger= 4 hrs tops.
You'll also want High Drain Unprotected Safe Chemistry batteries. AW are quality batts.
AW IMRs are a solid hitter. I think even APV and vapers who use standard resistance should get high-drain, no reason not to. I use the Panasonic CGR18650CH hybrids, 10 amperes output. Work fantastic.
They also have the NCRs which are 3400mah versus the 2250mah of the CGRs. Can't say how good they are though, never used them, but I've heard they're also very nice. Both are "high quality." You get what you pay for.

I also use the Panny 18650 X 2250 mah CGR18650CH and am happy with them.
AW, Panasonic, MNKE are all good batteries. Regarding ALL batteries only buy from a reputable Vendor as there are lottsa knockoffs out there. Some also remove old batts from electronic devices and rewrap/ sell them. Lottsa scams in the world of batteries.

Basically Efest, AW, or Panasonic Hybrids are good batteries to start off with. The VTR is a regulated mod, so it has protection in it. It will only work with unprotected batteries. It is kind of scary, the whole unprotected thing, which is why vaping has switched to the above mentioned batteries.

You want either a good name-brand IMR or hybrid battery, not a protected li-ion battery. Do not judge the quality of a battery solely on the mAh capacity, that specification is often over-rated by many manufacturers. High drain amp ability is important for a regulated mod (IMR = high drain - safe chemistry - unprotected).
Avoid any battery with the name FIRE in it, these are a second class battery in terms of quality. Never use an unprotected NCR/ICR li-ion battery in a mod. Never use a generic battery: these are unknown batteries made by an unknown manufacturer and of unknown quality.
You can't go wrong with AW IMR batteries. The Panasonic & Orbtronic hybrids are also a good choice, although the 3400 mAh Panny should only be used for mechanical mods with only clearomizers or cartomizers due to its 6.8 amp limit.

Batteries are the last place to go bargain hunting! The difference in price is only about 0.005 cents/day when spread over the life of the battery anyway.
Here's an example of VERY low end batts and charger- another good reason I never charge my batts unattended. Also happened to me but I was fortunately there to unplug it. Was using a TR-001 and TrustFire batteries...still get chills thinking about it and thankfully I had listened to the Vets and their precautions otherwise my home may have been a pile of ash not to mention neighbor's homes and lives.

Have you tried the new Samsung INR batteries baditude? I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a pair just to see how they perform.

I use only AW IMR batteries from RTD Vapor. I've tried the 18350 Efest IMR's and was very disappointed in them, the AW's perform much better. I also have one CGR18650CH 2250mAh battery which gives similar results to the AW IMR 18650 2000mah I usually use.
Thrasher has high praise for the Panasonic NCR18650PD 2900mAh.

If you're talking about the green ones, they're not very good. Last less than half the time as any other decent 2000mah batteries. I get about the same life out of them in a Vamo as I do an EH IMR 18350.
At first I only wanted a great pair of batteries, now I have 10 panasonic cgr18650ch's... gotta have backups for backups. (that's how I justify it)
You'll need a good charger as well... I recommend the nitecore chargers. Love them!
Yeah, I have a small arsenal of AW 18650 1600mah batteries, my only problem is they aren't making them anymore. The 2000mah newer version isn't quite as good under stress. That's why I'm checking out the new hybrids, at the price they want for them on e-bay I see no harm in picking up a pair and testing.
I hadn't heard of this. That was an excellent battery. I wonder if AW will be offering something better in the near future?
