Dallas - USA
Ok, folks here it is. The new group just for us Texans. I thought I'd start this thread and offer a place for everyone to introduce themselves.

I'll start... I'm from the Dallas area. Lived in and around the area for the past 12 or so years. I did a brief stint in Chicago - Damn it's cold up there. Was born near Houston and moved back there as a young adult. The humidity got to me so I finally settled in the Dallas area. Been here ever since.

I started vaping a couple of months ago and haven't smoked a real cig since. Well, there was those two days I was without juice. I tried to hold off but ended up buying a pack and smoked half of it It was nasty. I'm not sure what I'll do if these things get banned.

I don't like cold weather. Snow freaks me out but I think it's beautiful as long as it melts the same day it falls, lol. Of course there's always a trip to Colorado if I want to see some real snow or go skiing. I love the beach the most. South Padre is nice. Not so much into Galveston though. Other than that I like playing baseball, hiking, fishing and anything outdoors.

Ok, that's enough for now. Sounds like I'm writing a personal ad or something. Not into that either because I'm taken, have two kids and settled in life :)

^_^ Hi, I'm from Houston, lived here all my life (lame) I don't think I'll ever really leave it for long. I like the humidity and heat too much! I travel alot but I haven't really found anywhere in particular I would like to live despite my immense hate for this city xD I haven't had a chance to go on the road with my PV (I'm basically the tour bus driver for some bands so we get around...) but hopefully I will soon ^_^

Been vaping for about a week, I smoked half a cig reluctantly with my brother before I tossed it >.<l I don't think I'll go back to smoking a pack and a half a day any time soon. I'm already spoiled with this sweet delicious peachness. I love peaches. Buy me peach ANYTHING and I'm in love!

I also hate the cold weather though I saw snow for the first time a few months ago and was very fascinated.

Oh and **** San Antonio, I get hay fever every time I go to that damned city. And most people are very strange there... and the cops are stupid. >.>;

And I may look like a 10 year old but I'm not. I'm sick of people saying I have a fake id

xD

that's all!

Well, thanks for the invitation to join the group. I do live in the Waco area and have been here all of my life except 2 years in San Jose, Ca. where my dad lived. I was a pack and a half a day smoker for 30 years and have tried everything to quit. I think vaping gives me the best chance yet. My last time to quit was last year about this time and made it for about 6 months until one day my wife said, You better pick them cigarettes back up cause you're driving me crazy.

Anyway, I own 2 businesses, one is a sign (graphics) shop and the other is a solar electric company I am just getting off of the ground.

I will quit rambling, but when I get the chance, maybe I will get my artist to design us a decal or something for our little group to go on our vehicles.

Enough said for now!

Well, I'm 29, and I was born and raised in Lufkin, TX (about 2 hours northeast of Houston).

I started college in Baton Rouge at LSU in '98. This is the only time I've ever lived out of state, and it really wasn't for me to be so far away from home.

I graduated from Southwest Texas State (I refuse to call it Texas State University at San Marcos) in '02. I loved living in San Marcos.

From there, I moved to San Antonio and worked with the San Antonio Youth Centers.

I lived in Houston for three years, where I worked with Child Protective Services and the CASA program for Harris County.

In November of '07, I moved back home to Lufkin to help out my family. Both parents retired, and they were going through the general feelings of helplessness and depression that one tends to go through after retirement, so I felt like it was time to head home.

I currently work at the Texas Forestry Museum, where I coordinate all education events, tours, special events, fundraisers, etc.

FORGOT TO ADD: I currently use a modded dse901/rn4075 called my "Detonator" (you can see pictures in my blog), a standard 901/4075, a em901, and I'm loving the Ruyan Vegas Disposable Cigar for a little change of pace.

I truly love hearing about other Texans, so thanks for starting this group !

I am probably the "old woman" here ... 56 and currently living on the lake on Lake Palestine.

Was born and raised in Odessa, so the piney woods and water was a big change for DH and I, but we love it and living on the lake was lifelong dream.

Been smoking since age 19 and working at home on computer all day, my consumption had grown to horrifying amount. Burning through 3-4 packs per day, but mind you, I say burning through, because at least half of that amount burned up in ashtray.

Now, no more ashtray for me. DH has cut down on analogs by more than half, but has not totally made the switch YET !

My daughter lives in Houston, RN, and posts occasionally here as she is e-cig user also.

I have introduced my brother (ODessa) and sister (Houston) to the tech also, but they have just not yet gotten to the point of being able to keep devices, batteries charged, etc etc. Trying to help them find the "right" one for their lifestyle.

I hope we can keep this group going and share even more with each other, as we live in "a whole other country" here in Texas and should stick together.

Vape On !

Even though this is the internet and I could not go through the normal conversation I have to go through when I meet someone but since ya"ll will meet me in person soon enough I'll let you know....My real name is Keg, its not a handle. It is my middle name but my parents always called me Keg and its all I respond to. Years ago I tried to go by my first name and that failed. Sorry for the long response about my name but trust me 29 years of having it and is inevitable.
Anyway, I live in Dallas and have most all my life. I did live in far west Texas in a town called Seminole for a brief bit. My family is from out there and we still farm there. Love that place.
I work in decorative plumbing and hardware on the wholesale side, I dig my job.
I kick it at home a lot these days, reading and catching up on T.V. I haven't watched for ten years or so via the miracle of seasons on DVD. Lost, Dexter, and Six Feet Under are my new friends. Also a big sports fan including MMA. When I'm out I go to friends bars on Lower Greenville, I'm no longer a drinker and haven't been in many years but I enjoy the company of drunk people on some nights.
Travel is a must and I try to go on two trips a year, small or large, just a way to gain perspective.
Now, my important things in life are my girlfriend who I've been with for two years and my dogs. I'm a dog freak and yes they are my children. They are God's gift to us to show us how to live and love.
I've been vapin for exactly a month today and completely did not expect to quit but I have not had a cig since that day.
My current arsenal is small, I have a couple of penstyles from Ben@Vapornine (awesome guy BTW) a DSE901 that I rarely use and I have a much anticipated Screwdriver on its way.
WORD? WORD!!!

My name is Melissa, I'm 23, and I was born in California. I was raised mostly in the Fresno Area...and left as soon as I could. I moved to Houston when I was 19, and lived there for about a year and a half (without a car for most of it 8-o). I ended up falling in love with Austin (and a guy who lives here...) and moved over the 06/07 new years. This is home now, and I can't imagine leaving. (much to my family's dismay)

I'm a veterinary technician, and have the technician's curse of acquiring more pets than I could take care of if not for the employee discount. The count is 2 cats, a dog, and 2 birds.

I started at about a cigarette every few weeks 4 years ago, and when I realized I was spending more money on Camels than I was on lunches, I got it in my head to try something else. I love technology, and I love smoking, but I hate the taste of tobacco. So here I am. Cigarette free for 1 week now.

Hi! I'm in NE Texas, out here with the cows and little else.

I'm relatively new to vaping, but I love love love it! I hope to never ever go back to stinky yucky cigarettes.

Currently looking for work and not having much luck (might have something to do with location lol), so driving a long way to a meetup wouldn't be something I could do, sorry.

My name is Josh and I'm in Austin. I've been here for a little over two years. I was born and raised in a little town outside of Fresno CA. I spent a few years in the military, bouncing around from one desert to the next, and then made one of the best decisions ever by coming down here. Austin is by far my favorite place that I've ever lived. It's closer to the girlfriend's family, the people are pretty laid back, and there is music everywhere.

I've been vaping for about 2 months now. After trying a couple different models, I pretty much only use the M401 now.

It is cool to hear about all of the different backgrounds and the different places people have lived and how they ended up in Texas. We welcome you and the thing we have in common (smoking). Well, maybe we can all meet each other one day, despite the odds of that happening. I do live next to a large girl scout camp with bunkhouses and will see what I can do to get us all together in one place for a day or two to share stories of our committment to reduce the harmful effect cigarettes have on our body. It would be fun.
Don
P.S. If you like the avatar, I can print some up and send them out. Let me know, because we just threw these together in about 20 minutes.

Hi, my name is Steve. Living in Dallas since 76, a transplanted New Yorker. I might be the "Old Man" of the group at 62. Retired early & spend most of my time with hobbies & caring for my wife who is a bit disabled. I was a Sr. Systems Analyst for 40 years & still spend a lot of time messing with computers. I started vaping last Nov. & have not had an analog since. Not bad for a long time pack a day smoker. I currently have a variety of 901s, 801s, 401s, & e-cigars with around 20 flavors of juice. My COPD has decreased to the point I am off all meds for the last 2 months :) Look forward to meeting some other locals & perhaps swapping some flavors.

I'm a displaced denizen of the DFW metroplex. When the dot com bust hit....we hit the road for Alabama. North Alabama is beautiful and all, but it's not home.

I'm feeling really lazy so here's an excerpt from my very first post on the boards way back when:
...*coming out of lurker mode*

I just got back from doing a pulmonary function test at my doc's office. My FEV(Forced Expiratory Volume) increased from 49 to 64. (I have asthma ). There were other numbers but this is the one I remember. I've been smoking for 36 years. (I started at 12, you can do the math. I hate writing my age .)......
gep

*shields up*

I actually smoked my last analog on Nov 8th and began a two day drive to New Braunfels to visit my ailing sister. I've been a dedicated vaper ever since. My asthma has continued to improve. (I don't use a rescue inhaler very often at all, not even on exertion (been riding my bicycle since it has warmed up a bit and not getting as winded...nice).

Sorry I've got the "Youtube Link" compulsion today. Guess I need to sign off for a while. LOL

PS: I know that stretch of 30 into downtown from Mesquite like the back of my hand.....HATE IT!

Wow, put a girl on the spot. heh. Thanks for the invite to the group!
I grew up in Pasadena TX and have lived in Livingston, Blanchard, Onalaska, Deer Park, Clear Lake, and now Southbelt Area of Houston near Hobby airport. I have 2 kids, 17 year old stepson and a 2 year old little girl. I work for Dish Network answering phones for tech support. I started smoking at 19, and have managed to quit 4 times, but every time I got around someone who smoked, there goes the urge and it was over. My mother was the biggest culprit in the failed quitting.
I did however have a strong urge to quit, as we just lost my grandmother to copd and emphesema.
My other half and I started vaping on tuesday. He refuses to go back to analogs, I have had 1 a day since because I cannot seem to break that "I have to have one right before bed" ritual. I never realized how strong the little smoker's rituals can be. I will admit, they taste downright nasty to me now, and I'm not even smoking half of it. I'm going to try vaping instead tonight...wish me luck.
Now...to convince my mother to try this.
I'm using a 901 and he's using an evo. I ordered a hybrid from pure smoker and am eagerly awaiting its arrival.
Looking for inside the US options for flavorless nic liquid if anyone has any suggestions.

Ps...loved the video gep.

Howdy all. Tom here.

Wouldn't even let me post in the other thread. (D-Struct: that was a good one. Had me in stitches for minutes.)

San Antone native transplanted to Dallas for the past few years.

Yesterday was 2 weeks for me. Ordered my first one from Puresmoker on that first big Friday rush he had. Went out Saturday and got the NPro cause I didn't want to wait for it to get started. Have two more 401 kits on the way (the black/gold and mahogany) along with a JC starter kit.

I been smokin' since they were $0.26 a pack. That'll give some of ya'll a little perspective. Not sure if I'll give up tobacco completely yet (although that's the goal). Have only smoked 3 1/2 packs in the last 2 weeks vs my almost 2 packs a day. Have had a couple of one cig days also. So, maybe. Had one in the car yesterday and got back in it a couple of hours later. Sure did smell awful nasty.

It was really great earlier last week sitting in the waiting room of a hospital for 4 hours with my 401 while my wife was in surgery and not having to worry about running outside while I was there.

And yeah, that stretch of 30 to Mesquite is a pita. I drive it everyday.

(Some of ya'll will recognize the Maverick avie.)

Hi cwood;

I'm on the West side. Westheimer & TX6, by the West Oaks Mall. I travel for my job, so I'm rarely in town. Just got back from Wisconsin on Friday. Driving to Lufkin on Monday. After that, who knows.

Been vaping for about a month now. Haven't wanted an analog cig since the first day. I have the NPRO, and a $25.00 cheapie in my computer case for a backup. I'm waiting for a few orders that are out of stock right now. (atomizers, batteries, juice, etc.) I'm stocking up in case this FDA garbage interrupts our vaping.

Cheers;
jd

Howdy Everyone; Here goes.

Jim Davis (my real name)
Born & raised in Buffalo, New York. Been living in Houston for about 15 years now.

I travel extensively for a living. I'm a Service Engineer in the printing and food packaging industry, and make it home about 2 days per month.

Traveling is in my blood. My Dad & his parents traveled with the Carnival from the time he was a kid until I was born. My Great Uncle - Jeff Davis, was King of the Hobos.

I've been vaping for about a month now, and love it. Using an NPRO. I have a lot of orders pending right now. I want a good supply. I'm dropping Johnson Creek Vanilla e-juice. I just picked up a 6oz bottle of pure glycerin from CVS. WOW - Vapor up the wazoo!!! The mix is 50/50 if you're wondering. (and make sure the glycerin is pure, after all, you're inhaling it.)

Enough babbling for now.
Cheers;
jd
