Did manage to get it glowing evenly eventually, definitely a reminder of the old days.... ahaha. The airflow on the other hand is horrendous and I drilled the hole out about 3x the original pin-hole and still its just not quite there for me, even at higher wattage than back in those days.

I will say, definitely good piece of memorabilia if anything.

NIce one CHainsaw.. Did you get one built yet then? What did you put in there?
Well, I've tried the mesh, four different builds, with no love on any of them. I've got one with 22ga SS at .4 ohms and another 28ga Kanthal at 1.2 ohms, both with cotton, both vape about the same, I think I like the SS build a little better but I need to swap out the top caps, I broke down and drilled one out. I think the better airflow will be really nice on the SS build.
Not sure what my problem is with the mesh? The .7 build just kept catching on fire, the 1.2 I couldn't get the hot spots out, and the 1.4 finally burnt the legs? Oxidized the wick, used the Petar K build, oxidized the wire and tried wrapping on the wick, just nothing worked with the mesh.

I've been screwing around off and on today with an atty as well.
Try this. 5/4 28g. I think this will give you just over a skosh over 1.0Ω. IMHO, 0.7Ω will be too low--and you will just be able to take short drags. Don't know what mesh count you are using, but maybe roll up a thick-walled straw. So if you are using 400 count mesh, between 50mm and 60mm wide. Soft straw, i use a pice of 20g wire straightened out on a drill to roll a wick around. I torch before i roll, then torch and juice burn after. Because i am presently working in 32g wire and 34g for my aga titaniums--i oxidize fully.

Make coil pretty tight on a jig that fills the wick hole. But you should be able to take out--then replace--the jig. Fire the empty coil.

Installing the wick is the hardest part for me. I will roll the bottom just a skosh smaller, to thread the wick into the coil. Wick should fit nice and snug and cozy and bouncy. Not crammed. And not too loose. And your coil should not deform during this step. I have had to redo the coil a couple of times during this step, because things don't feel right. If the coil is too loose, take out the wick and put it back on the straight wire and roll it in reverse--to fatten it back up a little. Once you coil the Rsst a couple of times--you will remember what kind of coil shape works right.
And make sure your wick seam is on the opposite side of the pos lead wire. So if you are looking at the build from the side, and your pos lead where it initiates contact with the wick is on the outside, and you are seeing the seam on the inside--facing you. Pulse it out. Leave fill plug out. Fill and vape.
Hope this gets you going

I'm using 400 mesh, I've tried all the above, and more! I'm old school, still like using my ZAP and Ihybrid now and again. Not sure if it's a connection issue or what, I've never had hot legs like I had last night! Pos and Neg glowing, but not a hot spot on the coil, at 1.2ohms? I dunno.
I tried the .4 SS build with the bigger hole, don't like it! I'm going to re-wick, with the mesh now that the coil is good and oxidized. I put new cotton in it then stuck it on a regulated mod at 20w. It's just not "there", not sure how to explain it. It's a .091" hole, so not huge, but it's like it's not feeding. I'll see what the mesh does on this build.

Make sure that your coil is tight on the jig. That way your wick will be the right size in the hole--and not choking it closed. Since you are using those other gennys--you know to pulse it out for even coil glowings before juice. This is what my coil looks like--before adding my juice. This is the aga titanium. Atm--the build i found for this atty is 4 wraps of 34g kan on a loosely solid 400mesh 30 mm wide. 2.0mm wick hole. I don't have a pic of that dry-fire. But you get the idea.
Kanthal, right? And not nichrome80?
My wick seam is on the right, on this build.
Oh, and raise up the bottom lead off the deck. This helps on the Rsst
Don't give up!!

So my apologies as my dimensions were wrong. Didn't realise that the wick hole is 3mm. So i slapped a build on the one Rsst that i didn't destroy--when i was learning to build these things. 1.0Ω, 4 wraps 28g kan on a 3mm jig. Little over 3 inches or 75mm 400 mesh, loose bouncy cinnawicky straw. Torched once before and once after rolling. Tried out a hazelnut cappuccino juice in it.
If you notice--i do not have this atty screwed down on the Tesla mod flush--as i fear that it will trash this build. But it has no problems wicking.
I am HORRIFIED at wat i used to do to attys lolol
Vape safe!!

I bought an RSST a while ago (6 months?) I got it for under 20 bucks. Just wanted to mess around with it. I have only been on gennys for 8 or 9 months. .... The rsst was ok to build and I actually like how it looks, but the flavor gets lost in the enormous top cap. I love my 2 Origens , they have been well worth the cash. I am less into building than I used to be so I am glad I have dependable attys that just work and the flavor shines

I think that the differences between the vapes that various gennys deliver are subtle. As it turned out--i didn't like the hazelnut cappa juice--tried to flick it out of the atty and it would not come out--so the Rsst isn't a leaker, lol. Giving Njoy a last hurrah by filling up the Rsst with the last of my Classic Tobacco juice.
Off and on--i got obsessed with figuring out how a genny works. And i build alot in the fall and winter. Spring and summer--i keep a couple gennys coiled, and that is it
I got a high-end authentic genny. Crushing Catholic guilt prevents me from posting any pics of the build. Took about a week to science out a nice build for it.
I love spending my evenings messing with these things

I keep a bare-eyed cockatoo. George. She is a hen that has layed two clutches of eggs. She is 18years old, and i have had her for 17years. Pete--whose .... was in one of the Rsst pics--is 5 or 6 years old. I have to protect him from the parrot. The polka-dot bear is 47 years old--a get-well gift to me soon after i was born--as i had to have an operation.
I got well, joined the Navy, went to lots and lots of school. Am working as a microbiologist for a hospital network.

The 'Snake' has threading in all of the holes on the deck. A 2.5mm bit fits comfortably in there--same as the aga T. But i believe that this threading--along with the really thick deck--poses a challenge for wicking. 400 thick-walled straw 47mm wide works ok, if i don't chain vape.
Tried out a 300 mesh 35mm wide. Thot that i oxidized fully. Realised that i had to do a bit of pulsing on the mech mod. Last night it tasted like a damp dog smells.
This morning--it was absolutely divine!!!
So far 5 winds of 32g kan at 2.0Ω, and when i find a definite winner--i will post the genny porn. Mite even make a special thread, lol

Ex-Navy girl eh.. good one..and you must have studied hard to be working as a microbiologist now...well done you.
I spent many years in the UK Forces.. then on demob from there, just for a small change, was hired by an American company, to go to North Africa. Stayed there for about 11 years working at various Oil Areas mainly in Libya with a few other UK Ex-Pats, all ex-forces. Had a good time mostly..some were better than others, but it ended when Tripoli got bombed..and most ex-pats were removed from there, and that's when I quit, and had a complete change and opened a guitar store, but retired for the last 5 or 6 years now.

Love the cockatoo, we had a couple of them, one was a young girl, who loved to stand on your chest rubbing her head on your chin...lol.. and the other one was a grumpy male who liked to stand on your shoulder biting your ear..both long gone now I'm afraid. Now we have Jasper, half poodle and half beagle, and a lovely happy lad, 5 years old now, and we got him from a local rescue center when he was around 1 year old.

Nice pictures.. the atty looks great...love those more old-fashioned atomisers..they just keep on working well..good one. Thanks for the pictures, like seeing those on here..and reading about the builds and what folk do on them to make them work well.

The Navy was good to me--and for me. I am obsessive about punctuality. I took trips all over the US and two trips to Italy. I got fat in Italy, lol.
Also a bit of a diversion to Amman, Jordan.
Guitars!! That's awesome!! I play the saxophone badly. George loves my horn. I took an elective in ornithology so as to finish up my undergrad. I ended up falling in love with bird watching. Birds are amazing. My mother keeps a Greater Sulphur cockatoo--named Jasper lol!!

For me, there is nothing prettier than a genny build. But i love looking at the art coils that the Twisted Messes gentleman and 'Squidoode' make by hand. These coil wrappers do professional photography and the whole nine. As far as genny pics--the UK forum genny porn thread has some gorgeous builds. And EMG pics of Senio hybrid mods.
Watched Todd's review of the Calibre!! Holy Moley!!

Xtra Mile Vapes--Monad and Monas gennys. Le Zephyr and Magistre Vaponaute!!I wanna see some mesh builds on these!!

The Snakes are doing well, and learning to mind their kanthal leashes. I will use them alot. My Lines are like my one piece of Tiffany jewelry--for special occasions only lol
