My pdoc and I talked about it, and he told me some of the research about smoking and bipolar disorder/schizophrenia, and how it can actually be helpful. He was actually pleased that I'd found some way to use nicotine without actually smoking it, considering how much my mood has improved since I started (first on a nicorette inhaler, now on an eGo). I'm bipolar and it was such a relief just to not have to crave nicotine and worry that I'd fall off the wagon or something.

My doctor said he'd have to look into it. He can look all he please...I'm gonna continue to vape.

When my sister took her daughter to the ER, the nurses there (in AZ) were happy to let her vape there and told her there was no need to go outside.

My aunt's doctor told her to stop vaping and continue to smoke analogs :O WTH!? He told her, "don't put your body through more stress" (she has cancer) He also told her that the vapor in her lungs would probably give her pneumonia.

and then...my friend that had cancer...her doctor was SO proud of her that she hugged her!

So, I guess it just depends on the doctor, huh?

I haven't told my doctor as I have not seen him yet. But, I did tell the nurse and she had heard about e-cigarettes and was really interested in knowing more about them because she wants to get one for her husband. I gave her the website address along with my favorite supplier's website addresses. I even vaped right there in the exam room for her to show her how they worked.

I told my doctor (actually the substitute for the substitute for my doctor--long story) and she was very enthusiastic, "Awesome!!!," but didn't pursue the subject or ask any questions. Then again, she's a fresh grad from the same med school where research was conducted "proving" that e-cigs don't deliver nicotine. So maybe she was happy in the belief I'm smoking a placebo. :p She, of course, was more concerned about the few cigarettes I still smoke (like 4-6--and I doubt those are the cigarettes that are going to do me in).

And your point is?

My point is that the FDA wants to make vaping out to be the same as smoking. Well it's obviously not that much of a health risk to you or others if they're letting you do that in a hospital after an operation.

Since my doctor is not my mother, I can't imagine asking her whether or not she approves or even remotely caring for her opinion.

really? You don't care about your doctor's opinion on your health? Why even go then?

Havent seen my doctor yet...but to be direct..I could care less what my family or doctor thinks. Im doing it regardless. When I see family at cookouts I get mixed reactions as they keep asking "what if its more harmful"; get that from the true exsmokers though.lol Bottom line, Im not coughing anymore and since the idea of ecigs seems to bug the heck out of the cigarette nazis I am more than happy to be an out in the open vaperer.lol

Since e-cigs are not negatively affecting my health, I see no reason to consult my health specialist. Just like since blowing vapor from my pv onto my laptop has not effected it's running - if it did I would consult a computer engineer about his opinions of vapor on laptops - until then I am not about to ask his opinion, for really it is none of either his or my doctors business until and unless I decide to pay them to have an opinion, and then since it is my job as a thinking human being to be in charge of my own life, I have to decide whether or not their opinion is sound.

If I was having a problem with my health that could possibly be related to to inhaling the substances in e-cigs - I would ask my doctor to refer me to a good pulmonologists or other specialist that has knowledge of my symptoms. I doubt my family doctor, who is a generalist, has had much time to study the effects of e-cig. She has probably studied less about the effects of the chemicals I am inhaling on the human body then I have. This is not putting her down, as she is a extremely good doctor, who unlike many doctors (and a lot of patients) does not think she is god and has to act like she does know everything.

My sex life might also affect my health, but I am not about to ask her to render her opinion of my sex partner either.
