I received 3 Nivel chips from Russ at Click-Bang. Once I get them in a mod - one I keep, one to Russ, and one to a lucky person to win in a contest.

The retail price of the Nivel chip is $67 plus shipping and comes from Russia.

I've breadboarded and tested the first one. My initial impressions with vaping with it and testing it so far are very favorable. Totally easy peasy to get up and running with it as it comes pre-wired and needs no external components other than an LED, atty switch, and connector. That's it - zip zip lickity split and it's done. :toast:

Accessing the menu allows you to set either variable regulated voltage vaping (from 3v - 6v) or variable regulated wattage vaping (from 3W - 15W) and uses one AW IMR 18650 battery.

Just like with the DNA board, max Watts with the Nivel chip depends on the resistance of the carto/atty - the lower the resistance the higher the max; the higher the resistance the lower the max.

Measurements from various cartos/attys (max capable):
1.5 ohm DCC: max set voltage = 4.7V (loaded = 4.63V, 2.79A) ::: max set wattage = 15W (loaded = 4.78V, 3.0A)

2.5 ohm DCC: max set voltage = 6V (loaded = 5.94V, 2.23A) ::: max set wattage = 13.5W (loaded = 5.82V, 2.25A)

2.4 ohm SCC: max set voltage = 5.9V (loaded = 5.8V, 2.59A) ::: max set wattage = 15W (loaded = 5.9V, 2.54A)

3 ohm SCC: max set voltage = 6V (loaded = 5.93V, 1.9A) ::: max set wattage = 12W (loaded = 5.89V, 2.02A)

2.4 ohm Std. atty: max set voltage = 5.9V (loaded = 5.9V, 2.36A) ::: max set wattage = 14.5W (loaded = 5.8V, 2.44A)

Now for those of you who like to plug numbers into Ohms Law, you're going find various results for each of these equations:
W = I x V
W = V(squared)/R
W = I(squared) x R
I = V/R

For example - I measured the 1.5 ohm DCC and it was 1.5 ohm when I started the testing and it was 1.5 ohm when I took the measurements. For regulated wattage vaping with the Nivel preset at 15W, the volts measured 4.78V and the amps measured 3A.

W = I x V = 3 x 4.78 = 14.34W
W = V(squared)/R = (4.78x4.78)/1.5 = 15.23W
W = I(squared) x R = (3x3)x1.5 = 13.5W
I = V/R = 4.78/1.5 = 3.19A

As you can see, the calculated amps is higher than measured amps and I think that may be what's throwing the Watts equations off. Either that or sumfin is going on with resistance behind the scenes. Or both. I dunno. :D

And yes, I vaped with the 1.5 ohm DCC with the Nivel set at 15W and it was a mighty suh-weet vape!! :p

I did a video explaining the menu system (the camera didn't pick up the display very well - the display is actually very sharp and clear)...

Cool board Mamu. It looks big though. I wonder if it would fit in one of these Denali type boxes:

You better keep me posted on this contest. I'd love to get my hands on one of these, even if entering the contest involved cutting your grass and washing your car.

WOW I just watched your Video, Dose every thing but make my morning coffee.

They need to develop a PC program so you can plug in in to the PC and adjust it with PC controls.

Oh one extra step would be to WiFi it LOL set it from a phone app LOL :)

Crazy chip hear. I will need a few ASAP to play with.

According to this site, one of the features of the chip is:

"Boot loader, gives a possibility to update firmware online, so not needed to buy “next version” mods."

Cool.

WOW they thought of almost every thing on this chip.

I didn't even watch it to the end and realize ALL that this does. Not sure what else you can jam into a chip, or what else anyone would need. About time this came out. The future of APVs:)

Not sure I would ever use the limiter...I LOVE TO VAPE:)

Lastly, how's the temperature of the chip when running for long periods of time? Do you see a need for a cooling fin?

LOL - I know nothing about the contest other than there's going to be one when the mod gets done and shipped to Russ. Listen to Russ's Click-Bang show on Tuesday nights as he'll most likely be talking about it and what he plans.

I don't have a case picked out yet to put the Nivel chip in. I've got one more coming in then will decide which one I want to use. I want one with pizzazz, but as ya'll who don't make your own cases know those are hard to find. :laugh:

The DNA board is .65"x.85". The Nivel chip is .75"x1.2". Both have about the same depth.

It might fit in the upper space there hifi. The thing is that the display on the Nivel is not centered so you would not be able to get it centered across the front.

So far not much heat at all. Would need to test that more though with high settings and frequent atty presses.
