Good Morning,
It looks like there was still penelope stock on Clouds of Vapor last night so I snagged one. Now barring that the site is actually reflecting the quantity they have correctly then I should have one in my possession soon enough. From the other threads here it appears that if it's not in "Notify Me" status then there is enough to ship in the current batch. I hope that's accurate. Really want an Ody too but that's in "Notify Me" so I'll have to wait for that one.
So now for the questions to the people that have built Ody or Penelope coils. I've done a lot of reading in the last 2 hrs and I'm a bit confused on a few things so I thought I'd come to the source. This is all assuming I want to build a 3ohm resistance coil. I undersand this might be a little more complicated because the length at different thicknesses changes the ohm rating but any general advice would be appreciated.
So...with targeting a 3ohm resistance:
1)What length of resistance wire is typically used to build a coil? (Things I've seen on various forums say something like 1.5 to 2 inches or roughly 40mm to 50mm)
2)What thickness of wire would I use? This is the most confusing. So i've found some information that basically says a 1.6 inch(40mm) length of 34.5AWG(.15mm diameter) resistance wire is 3.1ohms. That sound fine. But in the threads on here I've been reading people are using anywhere from 30 to 36 AWG and in fact the stuff clouds of vapor sells is 36AWG for the iAtty, but not currently in stock. So at 36AWG(.127mm in diameter) you would use a shorter piece of wire to make a 3ohm coil.
A bit confused. Any help would be appreciated.
