Here is the agenda for the first meeting on this subject:

http://www.europarl.europa.eu/docum...01302/20130205ATT60533/20130205ATT60533EN.doc

You will see that no stakeholders for existing bans or proposed bans are invited (Snus and ecig consumers or trade assocs). Only those they can't afford to exclude: the tobacco manufacturers.

We should try to have supporting MEPs present instead of just the paid pharma spokespersons.

Dumb question: what does "Public Hearing" mean? Does that mean the public can go? If you can get ANY MEP's to go (it looks like some are invited) then can you get Europe's equivalent of Bill Godshall to go? Even if they can only schmooz during breaks, they could maybe enlighten somebody. And/or give a press release?

This sort of meeting is a whitewash, as you can see by the people invited, who are described as 'the main stakeholders'.

If this is some sort of reference to the stakeholders in outcomes related to the TPD rewrite, it is quite simply an outright lie.

I got that, it is obvious. But if it is a "Public Meeting" doesn't that mean people can sit in the audience? Then maybe they can float around during breaks? (For instance, the FDA public meeting had an invitation list but the video showed a lot of empty audience chairs.)
