500# mesh unoxidized, 4/3 wrap with 28g Kanthal A1 and you should be well set.

Nope. One might think so, but done righ you don't. What I do is just quickly going over the mesh with a lighther to burn off any factory crud, then I roll the wick. The you make your coil and then you just pulse it until you have a even coil around the wick. It's almost magic.

Nope, it even eliminates the "break-in" of a wick and gives you great flavor from pretty much the first puff.

Thats new to me 2. Thanks for the hint! I always oxidate the mesh and sometimes i have shorts even with the oxidated... I will try it!
